EasyCP (easycp.net) — a new hosting control panel for AlmaLinux & CloudLinux

Hi all,

I've been building my own hosting control panel, EasyCP, aimed at hosting providers: shared, reseller and managed VPS. It's built for AlmaLinux and CloudLinux, and supports CageFS where CloudLinux is present rather than reinventing it. It isn't running any customer services yet. I'm testing it on a few of my own non-critical sites and test servers. I'd like feedback from people who run hosting day to day.

What works today:

  • Web servers: Apache, Apache + Nginx, OpenLiteSpeed and LiteSpeed Enterprise, switchable from the panel
  • Multiple PHP versions, with per-account isolation and hardening
  • WordPress manager, including LiteSpeed Cache controls, updates and security toggles
  • Mail (Exim/Dovecot), DNS (PowerDNS), Let's Encrypt SSL
  • Security: OWASP CRS WAF, CrowdSec, Imunify360 integration, hourly security updates
  • Local and remote backups (SSH/rsync, Hetzner Storage Box, S3)
  • Migrations from other control panels, reseller accounts, and a WHMCS module

Website: https://easycp.net
Docs: https://docs.easycp.net
Demo: https://demo.easycp.net

It isn't on sale yet. There's still a fair bit to do. Licensing will be per server, with no per-account fees.

I'd really value your thoughts:

  • what you'd need before moving servers to a new panel;
  • what annoys you about the panels you use now;
  • anything on the site or in the docs that's unclear.

Best,
Chris

See if you can get S3 backup support if possible.
This control panel would need a lot of testing before hosts put this in to production.
Also see if you can add servers to the cluster with ease and that the packages sync across all of the servers.

Thank you for the suggestion.

I initially added S3 support for EasyCP, but found it slow and complex for many users. After extensive testing, I found that using SSH, rsync, or restic is the fastest option, followed closely by Hetzner StorageBox. While S3 performed reasonably well with archived or compressed backups, it was too slow for incremental backups.

That said, I also developed a cPanel/WHM backup plugin where S3 performs better and supports a variety of S3 providers and endpoints. I plan to revisit S3 support for EasyCP in the future.

This control panel would need a lot of testing before hosts put this in to production.

Yes, of course. I'm testing it on a few of my own non-critical sites and test servers. I've done extensive testing and fixed loads of bugs/issues since May. Once I stop seeing odd issues, I can let others test it before using it in production.

Also see if you can add servers to the cluster with ease and that the packages sync across all of the servers.

Looks to be working fine, and from changelog

The controlling server's panel lists and manages accounts on every server, and can move an account from one server to another, keeping it working until the new copy takes over. Cloudflare records follow an account when it is created, moved or removed, leaving any record you changed by hand alone. An account can be moved away and back safely, and removing it also removes the copy left on its old server. Packages are kept in step across servers. The shared nameservers keep answering while zones change, and the billing system works for accounts on every server, including after a move. Multi-server is in preview and included in every edition; it needs two or more servers on one licence.

Yes, it all needs more work, though we have to start somewhere.

Best,
Chris
