From an insider
OPk, Allow me to clearify some things that I have seen in regards to dotcombuilder.com. I will also go over some thigns with prozilla.
My name is David. I worked for Dotcombuilder.com off and on over time for several years as a sales rep. customer service, and as a Free Lance Designer / Coder.
The truth is that Rebecca( One of two original Owners the other being her Husband) Is one of the greats people I have rand into in regards to online businesses. Their head Support (Tom) is a great guy also a military man WHo should be by ow retired. These people collectively are the most stand up, customer orientated, people that you could do business with (in regards to this industry). Yes, Most of their scripts are GNU Open source or derived from GNU but the script are modified and updated as the technology is updated. They don't really have full time coders on staff and subcontract most of their stuff to regular Freelancers. But they will go above and beyond to do what ever needs to be done for customer satisfaction. Their priority is Customer support it is the main priority. They strive to provide a quality in the product that they provide.
I started as a customer and eventually submitted bug fixes and custom scripts myself that landed me a job there. Rebecca, even though I was usually paid via Paypal, event Went out of her way to send me a wire with an advance in pay of 4 weeks during the hurricane season and I was not even able to get online. These are good people who are out to provide a solid product line.
I Think that these scripts are a great start point for the most part even though they are fully functional as is. They also work as a great tool for people just getting into coding or a time saver for people with a influx of work without staff. But it is up to the individual and where their motivation is. As a customer I made 5 times the money I paid for the membership each year because of how I took the business. I took it serious and I put real work into the sites getting them populated getting affiliates / products. In other works I just didn't' install the site and sell it. I took it as a real job. And it paid off big time, I made in 4 months 50,000.00. So quickly in fact It freaked me out and I got a lawyer and Accountant to help me sort out how to pay the G man and it kinda forced me to slow down a little. That did not last forever though because the market did get saturated with garbage. But if you do take it serious and treat it as a real job and put real effort into it You can make a good profit.
Speaking Of Garbage , Prozilla , they are pretty much the polar opposite of Dotcombuilder.com In fact Prozilla was actually an employee of Dotcombuilder.com who started Prozilla with a bunch of stolen Scripts from dotcombuilder.com. And for some period of time Prozilla was even shut down because of a lawsuit that DCB had against them.
The license agreement: All websites that you have already put up are your and you are able to resell or do whatever you want with them as long as you want, you just cannot duplicated the script and website together. If you sell the script it must be as a complete website, has to be hosted with it's own domain name.
Bottom line: It is only worth the money if you put it to good use, if you are looking for a way to make quick case or if you are lazy not wanting to put the work in then don't do it. Like I said These sites are a great Starting point, The more work you put in yourself the more profit you make.
The owners and Tom Great , Trustworthy people, who are all about you as the customer.
There are some issues form time to time like any company with a customer base that they have.
BTW, Even though they do have the online installation tool, they will provide you with the zip files on request.
I hope that this was helpful.
