Do you outsource?

Do you out source work to give clients services which you don't offer or is it too big of a hassle so you don't bother? Do you think it is an ideal way of doing business?

I was talking more in terms of 1 time jobs that only happen every now and again. Say a client wants coding work done. Do you satisfy them buy pulling in a partner and profit off a % or do you just turn that request away?

i have never had any generral client ask foir anything we have not been able to carry out. we do offer specialist preset dolphin sites, if one of these clients asks for a specific mod/addon then we direct them to the marketplace of Boonex, but we will happily install any addon/mod they have purchased.

The only work I tend to outsource is if its for a personal project, say if I am setting up a site for a friend or family member and I do not have the time to walk them through it (as a favor). Anything business related is in house teams only, no outsource (most clients prefer it that way too).

Sometimes it is very handy to outsource a piece of work. Usually this is only a good idea if the job you have been asked to do is a one time only type project or a work in a specific aera.
It is not possible to know everything and everyone has there specialist areas, however it is also important that you trust the abilities of the person you are outsorcing the work to

Only stuff like design and coding, because we have people who we know well and have done previous work for us.

We wouldn't outsource anything else.

Its true, and I see it as this way. With all the money you invest in outsource why not just find yourself a great team to run your company and you will also have much more control over the company. You'll know who's doing what and who's where when and why. I don't outsource and even if I did I don't think I would be happy with it. I like doing things my self and making sure they are the way I want them to be no matter what.

Outsourcing can lead you to worrying a lot or wondering if that company you outsourcing is a trust worry and reliable company. You wouldn't want to hire a company and put your company into danger.

exactly my feelings.

if you think most outsourced support comes from support agents in india etc. so they have bad english and it is not that easy for most hosts to directly visit these outsourced centres if anything is of concern.

so best option is to spend the money inhouse on your own tech staff.

Are you seriously talking about 'Companies'? Sorry to say, but real Business process outsourcing companies in India train the candidates properly, following all the required standards.

And you should at-least not have any problem dealing with them, as far as their English is concerned.

But yes I do agree, most of the companies in India acting 'Big' are nothing but run-of-the-mill companies, backed up by stupid illiterate people.

Even I have had some bad luck dealing with such clients and companies in the past.

Before outsourcing anything, one should do thorough research.

Source: I am an Indian by the way.

We generally don't outsource. As easyhost said, it is better to invest in-house. And then training your staff periodically, so that they become efficient enough to carry out the required tasks in time.

i have had dealings with many outsourced agents with most from india and their english is less that good.
but what i was saying is if you use an outsourced support company in India (no matter if they are good or bad) and you need to visit them for some reason, this will prove difficult for many hosts.

so it is a better option to train your own in house staff and it will cost you just as much as if you outsourced the support.

I think outsourcing for the most part does more harm than good. Its also damn expensive for the level of service you get. For that price I can just hire someone new.

It really depends on how you think of outsourcing. We have staff in the United States and United Kingdom. Not sure if UK would be considered outsourcing.

- Daniel :)

Hi Daniel. welcome to HD.

outsourcing is when your outsource work to someone outside of your organisation.

so if you get someone from the next office to do some work for you then you have outsourced that work if that person is not part of your organisation.

i am guessing its Okay to outsource when you are really out of Hands (my hands is full, and i can still take a little)

dont outsource fully, it would be retarded, outsource when you are a sleep or somthing
