cPanel's Popularity

cPanel has a very good user interface. Wide array of operating systems, including Redhat, Free BSD, CentOS, Fedora, Debian, and Trustix are supported on it. I guess that's the main reason why people give preference to it.

cPanel it is great, sure works, a little slow but it still remains one of the most popular on the market for great reasons. They are always improving and enhancing it's overall UI and Security, a must in this industry.

I've used both Plesk and cPanel for both my hosting companies. I use Plesk for the Windows servers and cPanel for the Linux servers. I'm new to cPanel but have been happy with both and feel both are easy for non-techies to use. I think it will take Enkompass awhile to be competition in the windows arena against Plesk. Plesk has a total Windows look and feel to it.

It is very difficult for any other or new panel to compete with cPanel or go more popular than it.

Because they have a great team and are evaluating their selves with time very nicely. They have formed a great structure which is not only easy for end users but it help administrators to control whole server via GUI and this is a great utility which saves a lot of time and ease controlling process.

cPanel is very good control panel and is mostly used by the webmasters. It is having some important features and advantages of using it.

cPanel is simply often requested, if it's the best or not, I really wouldn't say either way. BUT, they have been cleaning things up tremendously, so I expect them to be around for quite some time.

cPanel all the way. to many people are way to use to it and thus passing that to there friends and family. cPanel is not going anywhere.

I think no other control panel would be as popular as c-panel. Because c-panel is used extensively by large numbers and cPanel is one of such systems that is preferred by the online business owners because it makes the managing tasks easier.

cPanel is being used thorough majority of the web hosting industry, IMO most companies will lose a stream of revenue if they do not offer cPanel as one of their control panels.

Not only has cPanel lead most of the web hosting industry with linux operating systems, but does anyone have a idea what could happen with their newly designed control panel for windows "enkompass"?

I've seen this mentioned a few times. While cPanel is good, I'm pretty certain Plesk and vDesk lead the industry due to heavy use by the various megahosts. I remember cPanel in the 1990s -- it was horrible, almost unusable. It's come a long way since then. Many small and medium hosts use it.

Enkompass is horrible, like cPanel in the 1990s. It's at least 6 years behind Plesk -- and that might be a little generous, because Plesk 7 was pretty good back in 2005 -- arguably MUCH better in v9; no opinion on v10 yet. I would suggest Enkompass isn't even a beta-level product, more like a weak alpha dev. I do wish cPanel well, however. Keep at it.

Has anyone tried out the app. which allows you to run cPanel from your iphone? I wanted to know what others thought about it. I also wanted some feedback about the possible security issues when using the feature. It seems like a good idea especially if you are really mobile but is the potential cost of a security breach worth it?

I would never use or work with anything else but cPanel/WHM.

Just my two cents

Because of this market, which is so large, so many potential customers are excluded when you don't offer cPanel/WHM, but I guess one could make a similar argument for any control panel.

In the competition of server management script, It is not that big. There are smaller company's out there trying to compete but because of the dynamic and easy learning and use of the system it have become the best option.

They have made it to cover all the needs of a server management with monitoring scripts.

No other script out there has been proven to be as good and reliable.

For anyone with a business and a server running cPanel they want guarantee and reliability. cPanel provides this.

Thats why, in my opinion that cPanel dominates.

As many wrote cpanel is easy to use and really great script for a webhosting company.

If it was not to use cpanel i would hire a programmer and put him create my own custom script But it will cost millions of dollars
