Confused web site visitors?

do you get many sales questions from confused web browsers on your hosting plans? ... like what plan is right for me, etc....?

I don't know about getting questions from people, because I don't run a hosting business, but I do send those questions to owners of hosting businesses. :) Maybe you can set up a little guide in a form of video. Or some good comparison of plans with less knowledgeable user friendly tips.

Question like "what plan is right for me?" is very genuine question, if you consider it confused sales question and not answering it in rightful manner, you might be losing a potential customer.

I agree with you bob, it is a genuine question ... My question is fueling some sort of solution that solves so browsers don't get discouraged and leave our web sites ....

Most common people looking for web hosting (usually shared/reseller) are more newbies that need a little extra guidance. So patience and understanding go a long way in building trust with a new client. As they need that extra support too know what they are or should be spending their money on. :)

It's better to get people asking questions than having them just simply move on to the next provider :)

It depends on where you advertise and what market you target as to how knowledgeable your potential clients are going to be.

Thanks, great feedback!!!

When I ran my web hosting company in 2007 I found that many of my clients had selected the wrong hosting plan for their web site needs... (wrong platform, disk space, ecommerce, etc...) that we later adjusted when they contacted us when trying to install a script or were going over the allocated resources....

I'm putting together a white paper and would greatly appreciate your professional and experienced input on this question. (web hosting company owners only please)

Below is a simple (1 question) - (yes/no) poll

Would be great if you can explain why selected your answer on this thread.

Thank you very much!

It is true that most of the visitors are playing guessing game while choosing plan for them. They are totally unclear about their requirement.

Thats actually true. Most of the people are unaware of the requirements of their websites, hence are in a confused state of mind. In such cases, they get in touch with a web host that are known to them and try to get a better understanding of a suitable web hosting plan.

When I first started getting into the whole "hosting game" I went to someone and asked a bunch of questions to which they responded basically pointing out how stupid I must be. Needless to say I moved on and inquired elsewhere.

Of course. Most of people are not clear of their own requirement of their websites. So they usually ask some strange problems.but we have to be patient to reply their questions. We should support the best customer service.

Questions are great - as every question is an opportunity to sell your product or service. The key is to listen more than you talk - actively listen to your prospects questions.

Beautifully said. Not much people think this way.Questions from a visitor can be a great way to convert into a customer. Therefore, its necessary to give an appropriate solution to a query no matter how basic it might seem.

I agree... being honest in answering the question and truly suggesting a plan that benefits the client more than the web hosting company will also assure a long lasting client. However having the web site visitor to be motivated enough to contact your company is whole other topic....

Some times people come hanging around on the net and ask questions to you on the chat, however if the questions are about the hosting and technical aspects related about the hosting, it is good that you answer every question in understandable manner, dont assume that the person has just come for fun and he is not going to buy anything, this might be true, but if you satisfy all his answers , nest time when he really needs hosting he will definitely prefer you, or can recommend you to someone else
