Choosing a Good Domain Name

I don't agree with #1 and #3:

According to google, using hyphen will help improve your search engine ranking. I have seen more and more website using this trick. <URL snipped>

All true what you say.

Hyphen domains will improve search ranking, but if the domain name it will be hard to remember. Si if the domain name is too long with lots of hyphens you can try this solution:

Solution: Buy thenon hyphen version of the domain and redirect the non-hyphenated domain to the hyphenated domain with 301.

Hyphen domains will improve search ranking

I doubt it makes much of a difference these days. Having the words in the domain seems to be rather important, but search engines have no trouble identifying them with or without the hyphen.

I am under the impression that using hyphens will seperate the words for the search engines. Does underscoring do the same thing? To me it looks better with the underscore.

I agree that most people forget domains with hyphens and end up typing the wrong domains (without hyphens).

To me it looks better with the underscore.

It might look better, but you can't register a domain with an underscore. It's an invalid character.

Thanks hostingdale. I didn't know that. I was thinking about file names and just assumed you could. I see them in the address bar but it must be in the page titles not domains.

I had to use different name for my blog and different for the domain. getting a good domain that we like and want is really hard these days.

I do agree the above mentioned the instructions while choosing domain name. But one thing is in my mind, as you said don't use digit like 7, but when it would be written as it is instead of seven how visitors can misunderstand it. kindly explain.

Using numbers that way is perfectly fine, but it is not advisable to use numbers to serve the function of words like 2 for "to" and 4 for "for".
