Choice of Ads?

Since you have to choose between those options I'd go with the banner ad like most other users have agreed with as well. Pop-ups are just way to annoying and you'll get a higher bounce rate with those ads im my opinion.

If you don't want to change hosting providers, use a banner ad. Pop up and under ads drive people crazy.

Steve H, exit pop ups guarantee I will never go to that site again. I really hate them.
But here is their rationale (and I feel the same as you) - they depend on impulse buying and are taking the chance you may be on the edge, but have decided to leave. By offering you a discount on an exit ad, you may just buy. They figure you'll probably never go back to their site anyway, so no harm, no foul. It was worth a second try. This is one reason I never buy on impulse online - I always exit the site first to see if they offer an exit discount. A lot of times, I'll go to a site wanting to buy - possibly based on an infomercial I just watched. Once there, I rationize the cost is too high, and reluctantly decide to pass on the deal. Wait! It's suddenly $50 cheaper - I start rethinking the whole thing. Maybe I change my mind - because I really wanted it in the first place. :D

In my opinion, pop up ad is not good for customer experience.

How about the AD position in the right side of the 1st post in every thread? Visitors always take care of the 1st post.

Thanks.

I suggest you go with banners option too. Visitors would tolerate them more. pop unders and pop up give a kind ofillegal image to the site.

In my opinion, pop-ups should not be used for ads because many people turns pop ups option off from their browser.

So, if their ADS are to give you some benefit, go with option 2. Otherwise, go with the first option.

Banners aren't as annoying as the pop-ups.Most people will tolerate banners but not pop-ups.They will move the targeted traffic away from your site.Pop-ups will make you lose your customers so its better to make a banner ad for your site.

There are a lot of hosts out there that offer free hosting with no ads but how long do they last in business? I personally think banners is the way to go and sticking with a host that makes its users use ads will be in business a whole lot longer than one that doesn't.

You get what you pay for, remember that. In this case, your paying with ads, choose not to and you might find your site gone and your host gone one day.

I agree that banners are more customer friendly, however when I open a website and see there a pile of banners which irritate me and I can find the exact info I need, it's horrible...

So, moderateness is necessary everywhere...
