Average Server uptime.

A question for hosters and site owners, what is the average length of time your site/server stays up for without any proper downtime?

Has your server gone 5 months without any down time, or do you find it has an occasional 20 min gliche once a month?


If they do go down, how long is it usually for?


And how much and how long do you find is both acceptable or unacceptable?

There are a lot of variables to this question. There are servers in our faculty that have not gone down in three years, there are others that are down every other month. It depends a lot on who is managing your box, what software you are running, and the size of your website. While we have not had a power outage or network outage in five plus years, there are still sites that go down every other month or every month. Some its because of DDOS attacks and other reasons are for clients wanting to manage their own box.
