Arvixe is now an EIG company!

We shall all just have to sit back and watch how things go. I know on arvixes blog a week or two ago, they still had a post up bashing EIG for their uptime and provided unique coupon codes from some of the major brands.

yes and on several forums etc. Arvand has openly stated he would never sell to EIG as he values his clients, so just shows wave enough $$$$ about and anything can happen.

Just found this on WHT

never thought the bad service would start so soon

There have always been negative posts here and there about Arvixe (not saying they deserve it). Now that EIG bought them, the same issues will be blamed on them. And the only thing that has changed is a piece of paper. Another demonstration of the troubleshooting skills and analytical minds of the self-proclaimed experts.

But you have to admit that service on any EIG acquisition does down downhill fast

From our experience.

Doing business with anything EIG is as bad as flying on a 13 hour overnight redeye sitting next to someone that hasn't has a bath in a year and hasn't brushed their teeth in 2 years and is sitting there eating an onion.

Ouch. Brutal.

Its been pretty quite lately as far as talks from Arvixe goes. I have seen a scatted increase in sales from users mentioning they are coming from Arvixe and are jumping ship to avoid future interruptions so it really does seem like their reputation is killing customers faster then the changeovers lol.

Well Brent if you have been in the hosting industry as long as me and some members on here you will know what happens to any company that is taken over by EIG.

They go downhill fast

I have been in the hosting industry a very long time. 15 years.

I just don't do much in the shared sector, which appears to be what EIG is trying to gobble up.

EIG will try to take over anything in the hosting industry they think will make them money and then move everything over to their own datacenter and all support run through their own support center.

EIG recently took over Directi/Resellerclub which seems a strange takeover as before then they only took over hosting companies.

Arvard openly stated he would never sell out to a company like EIG, but i dare say if the carrot that is dangled infront of you is large enough you will bite it

Not every customer of a company acquired by EIG should panic, the buzz is created by other web hosting providers to steal clients by offering refugee coupons. EIG acquires companies however tries to keep same management and staff! They do move customers account to their data centres and had couple of issues in their data centre in past. But lets be honest, which provider does not face a technical issue couple of times a year?

I agree that one should not just judge a company just because it is under the EIG umbrella. BUT (and that's a big BUT right there), given the EIG track record so far, one would logically assume things will be going downhill. Not sure what their policies are but they rarely seem to keep the same management for long, change the support and customer service operators, change datacenters etc. etc. All those things combined usually leads to a slump in the quality of service.

Providers bashing other providers might seem a viable explanation for you and in a way you might be right. But look at the other perspective - aren't the providers the ones that mostly hang out in the related forums and see threads on a DAILY basis of unfortunate and unhappy customers who lost their web project because of poor handling. Among the hosts which clients mostly have negative feelings for surprisingly (or not) the EIG brands pop out the most by a mile (with GoDaddy in close race). In fact, in my own experience, the only company that was bought by EIG and still has a somehow stable rating and reviews is A Small Orange. All the others (excluding Arvixe as its too early to say) suffer from a lot of complaints. And while other hosts use the forums to help others AND keep their brand reputation by addressing their own customers' issues, the EIG brands seem to suffer from a policy where they stop using forums and other means post-acquisition.

Imagine when a client falsely accuses your company in an online forum. Experienced users and companies can often spot false accusations but the majority will just believe what they read. And if the accused don't have a representative to clear the air and show all that the client is in the wrong they just take the punch and continue. But aren't there just so much punches you can take...?

I think the biggest problem with EIG (at least in my own opinion) is that they do seem to have the funds (and a lot of them) but they choose to invest them in a wrong way. I can't imagine that so much money can't buy you top-notch servers and let you employ some of the brightest minds in the industry. Instead its all about new acquisitions, ton of affiliates because of a good program and a lot of advertising everywhere they can get.

Again, this is just my personal standpoint, but I do believe that fellows from hosting companies will agree. Gaining clients from bashing your colleagues in the industry never works the way you might think :rolleyes2

I agree that companies taken over by EIG do eventually go downhill, so far this has not effected A Small Orange but for Arvixe and even Resellerclub it is far too early.

But if EIG dont have reps on forums to dispel or reply to bashings then these will continue and people will take them to be 100% true as no one from EIG will pipe up and say they are not.

Business is business; he sold up thats the entire point of starting the company. to be rich somehow.

"To be rich somehow?"

It is? You've got a lot to learn about operating a business my friend. If your goal is to be rich, you're better off buying a lottery ticket.

There's a lot more to it than that. Building something real that grows, provides and makes something better - these are the goals of a business.

Nothing has actually changed since the acquisition, we still have the same management, same teams/departments etc

Are you hosting with us?

LOL, no. You and I are not in the same marketspace. We hardly do any shared or reseller hosting (we only service those clients on these platforms obtained through acquisitions).

But you have to admit that service on any EIG acquisition does down downhill fast

I cannot admit to this. The only evidence I have is more unreliable than the alleged new unreliability of the newly acquired companies, that is, semi-anonymous posts in hosting forums repeating other semi-anonymous posts none of which are based on any empirical data.
