How many bandwidth providers are there available in the world ?

Tricky question but this should be fun to hear everyone get a reply arty:

Well, I would imagine that there truly aren't many.

It takes quite a bit of money to be a root bandwidth provider. You're basically looking at phone companies and cable companies.

Taking that into consideration, I'm willing to bet there aren't as many as you may think.

A few that come to mind:
- Verizon
- AT&T
- Qwest
- Atlantic Broadband

Keep in mind that these also cover secondary company brand names...
- Verizon is also Bell, Bell South, Bell Pacific, Bell Atlantic
- Qwest is also Touch America

Your definitely missing a few unles syour only going for US ones. The UK has a number of providors, just Google it and you'll see what I mean
