Well said server38. Although I would like to add.... that I think it is ironic how the owner of a hosting company posted this. It is truley something to look at but in prespective, a hosting company is like any other business. Just because they are all linked together through the web doesn't mean anything. There are thousands of candy stores, and they make their own business in their LOCAL area. The difference with that and a webhost is that not only do they work on a local scale, but also a worldwide. That is the greatest part of the owning an online business and having a hosting company. And yes, it does take a lot of dedication and many arent fully successful, but its always fun.

I don't think it's overcrowded it's just simply means that customers will get better prices because of competitiion and possibly better service. There are some bad apples but that happens in every industry.

the answer to your question is YES. and if you think you should start a hosting company that has the potential to be as large as possible, go for it! One of these days there will be a company like google that takes over at least 1/3 of the industry but that hasnt happened yet :-D for the time being, its a great business

i dont think its a dying business at all. There is alot of competition with web hosters and it is saturated but technology is growing. more and more people are becomming familiar with computers and how it works. and not all web hosters make it. some die, stay small, or go big. Its all in the way you lok at it. and alot of these web hosters only see dollar signs and is in it just to try and make money but know little about the industry.
