Anyone been to a datacenter in person?

I'll never forget reading the warnings as I entered the one data center, about the halogen fire surpression systems. Those things scare the pants off me.

The DCs I have been in were invariably hot, despite heavy duty air conditioning systems for their cooling, and were noisy too.

No one can just walk into a data center. The DC folks I was doing business with provided me with an ID card with which I can access a 24-hr KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) room that had several terminals. I was given a username and password to access my physical server. The setup was very decent. This was one of the expensive ones.

Yeah those systems scare me too.

We are at Peer1 in Toronto, and its COLD there (and ex$pensive). I wouldn't keep equipment in a hot room.

We run and operate a total of 9 racks in 2 different datacenters, so yea.. we're familiar

(Their BORING AND LOUD, SHH DONT TELL ANYONE!)

To whoever said all datacenters are the same - you've obviously not toured many data centers.

I've been in about 7-8 data centers over the past four years or so since I've been in industry, and none of them are alike.
