This is very true. Most forums now are not effective for advertising like they used to be.

freewebspace.net is another good one for advertising.

you cannot advertise on Reddit in general as its just another search engine and offer ads the same as google at a higher cost.

Quora is just and question and answer site that does not allow advertising. you can recommend businesses if someone asks a question, but you cannot recommend your own business.

a prime example is Facebook, it is then biggest community based forum around, but they dont even enforce their own policies, you report a post and all you get within seconds is a canned reply 'we have reviewed the post and it does not breach of community standards' and no way to contact FB directly
