it was not me that contacted the police, it was my phone service provider.

but you are right 1 hour for that.

2 years ago someone broke the side window of my van, call the police, it took 2 hrs for someone to call and then another 1hr for SOCO to turn up.

he cut/pasted our logo for the link, so by banning his IP it prevents him for accessing our sites to copy anything from them, or to use our support system to contact us again.

the abusive phones is proof that he is not professional as if i told him to remove the link as we did not want to be associated with his site then why would he be bothered that his IP had been blocked. he must of attempted to access my site again to find out his IP was blocked.
 
R u sure banning his ip would prevent him to access your website? I have doubt in that. As there are plenty of systems to bypass it. I can use proxy in browser,proxy website, socks, vpn,etc. to be on your website again. Never thought a hosting provider would ban Ip to ignore someone. That's lame.....

If he is using your link then whats wrong in that. He want to earn and same is the case with you. Whmcs affiliate system is totally open, you cant stop someone referring your website. Do you have some restriction to it? Have you modified the files? Do you have decrypted code for it?

I think its fine if he wants to become your affiliate after all you have chances to get business from him and even you are getting a backlink. Think differently , think like a business man.
 
Actually, I have to agree with Terry on one thing, is that it matters where you place your links, as a backlink on the wrong website might actually do more damage than good. That comes from my observations of the SEO world.
 
Well getting backlink from related website is best but after all backlink is a backlink..:)

His site is not a related site. have you seen his site and look at the source code.

for some reason our WHMCS aff will only allow registered clients to become affs.

we only pay aff commission as a credit to clients accounts. yes they could use proxy etc. but we banned his IP so he cant access anything on our servers direct. his abusive phones proves i made the right decision as stated earlier he was told we dont want to be associated with his site and for him to remove our link, so what other purpose whould he be angry and abusive that his IP has been blocked from our servers after he was told we dont want to do business with him.

What you mean by look into source code?

What if I register on your site and paste your link to the same website you blocked? Is there any way you can make that out?
 
1. WHMCS should allow you to set it so users can signup without having to order anything so you can set them as affiliates. But, since you do not give out cash, only credit I don't think you should worry about it.

2. IF you would like this changed I can take a look as I used to run my own host way back when and know my way around whmcs.

3. As for everyone asking why He banned him over and over, I suggest reading the replies as he stats why he did it.. Also, the website belongs to him so he can ban him if he wants. Doesn't need a reason.

They dont need to order anything, they just need to register with us ( this gives us more control over affiliates) as their registration details goes through the Maxmind fraud screening process.

At least someone understands that i can ban whoever i want without having to explain my actions.

yes, just incase he tried this on other hosts as a heads up. i have explained many times why his IP was banned.

anyone looking at hios website and the way it is setup without any title/meta tags and the fact after being told im not interested and to remove my link then to telephone abuse because his IP is blocked from my servers.

why was he so upset and concerned his IP is blocked from my servers when i explained to him i dont want to be associated with him.
