$8.95 per year for domains ? Is this true ?

is the best site to get domain names.
"best" is a very subjective term ...

what special/unique features do GD offer that no-one else can match that makes them (in your opinion) the "best" ?

Not to answer for anyone else but GoDaddy seems to be a bit easier to navigate than enom is....But that may be just my perception since I'm so used to both the navigation is pretty much understood.

I'd have to agree though, that GoDaddy is the better of the two. I've used both and have recently been transferring all names to GoDaddy, especially since enom "lost" one of my names.

And you can get dotcoms on GoDaddy now for $6.95 all day long without a reseller account or deposit.

Artashes, they're running a special this month - $6.95 for new .COM

$6.95 for new .COM domains and transfers? YES! This ain't no April Fool's! .COM will never be lower, and it might never be offered at this price again. So get yours now! Hurry -- sale ends April 30

Well I guess they didn't lie.
I bought a couple of domains last month, near the end of the month to take advantage of the $7.95 domains.
They said the sale was ending March 31. I guess it did and they replaced it with a better one.

You're not alone in that Blue....I picked up a couple during the $7.95 sale too, and then a week later went to register a name for a client and found the $6.95 sale running.

I've used godaddy and namecheap. I had technical issues with godaddy that 3 long distance calls to Arizona couldn't solve. This is when godaddy upgraded the user interface it locked my nameservers in an endless update loop. Took a few days to rectify. Since then I've switched to namecheap, good reliable service always reply to email questions.

I personally don't see how register.com makes any money. Nobody who does research would actually spend $35 on a domain name for one year. I could pay that much for almost 6 years!!! I guess the people that don't do their research about the best route to getting started on the web find register.com and stick with them. Its sad....

Godaddy is able to register their domains directly. Those providers that are chargins $8.95 and up all have to pay a higher registrar the manditory $8.00 fee for their registrations.

So, yes, they can charge $8.95, but they'll only make 95 cents per domain name.

Register.com and Network Solutions both register directly and pay the minimum for domains, but they are both badly over charging customers.

Our domains are registered through both enom and godaddy. godaddy is cheaper for some of the tld's, but enom offers more with their registration.

I received a letter in the mail the other day, offering me a .com registration for the low price of $40.00 for one year. These people seem to prey on others inexperience or maybe it's just their laziness.

I'd surely recommend www.Registerfly.com. Although the site is slow at times, it gives the best deals on domain names imho. I bought many from them under 10 USD with no road bumps. Just another vote for the fine people over at registerfly.

Personally, I dislike goDaddy, although i must admit that it's for personal reasons, more than anything.

Enom have been absolutely brilliant for us over tha past couple of years - we get domains for a little over $6 per domain with a nice down payment. They also integrate seamlessly into H-Sphere, which means resellers can get domains at under $7 too :D - no work for us, at all to get that moving - Enom are amazing.

WuYanks,

do you use the free FlyServers.com service that comes with a RegisterFly domain? The A-records service has been broken since November 2004 and all they tell me is to use redirects (i.e. you can just use any free service without ads). A-records are nice because your domain shows up in google instead of http://flyservers.registryfly.com/members5/yourdomainhere.com/

For the last couple of months any support questions about this have led to a general answer "please use redirects". The free A-record website was the only reason for me to sign up with them in the first place; I'm checking out other registrars now because some are up for renewal in May.
