350 E Cermak is huge. Currently, our Zayo router/gateway is in that building. Digital Realty owns the building I believe and Equinix is a large tenant. There are lots of large tenants in the building, but almost everything in the midwest routes through there. Their chillers broke down this past winter and caused us huge downtime with Zayo. Lots of stories from that building.
 
"reports of a carpet on fire somewhere in the building" - I would assume this is maybe a staff/client area of the building as it's not common practice to use carpet in datahalls - although, I have seen some rooms in Telehouse N which do have carpet, but I always cringe at this.

Makes you wonder if they're using some level of VESDA/IG-55 (inert gas) solution to prevent these kind of fires. As in a perfect world, the fire would have been suffocated by gas before the fire became an issue.
It seems there is no impact of this fire - which is always good news for everyone. Glad everyone is safe and well.
