Your.Online extends European footprint with Italian hosting provider Shellrent

Your.Online has added another company to its portfolio of firms across Europe with the acquisition of Shellrent, an Italian domain registration and hosting provider offering cloud VPS and server services. The group signed the agreement in February, marking its third acquisition of the year and reinforcing its steady expansion across core digital infrastructure markets.

Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Vicenza, Shellrent has built a long standing presence in the Italian market by serving businesses and professionals with a focus on reliability, security, and practical self service tools. Over nearly two decades, the company has developed its own infrastructure and operational processes, allowing it to maintain close relationships with customers in a market where local support and trust play an outsized role.

The addition of Shellrent strengthens Your.Online’s Presence segment in Southern Europe, adding depth in Italy alongside recent moves in Northern and Western Europe. Earlier this year, the group completed acquisitions of Dtch. Digitals in January and UK2 Group in early February. These three deals all follow the same playbook: go after solid, profitable companies that really know their own markets, instead of just snapping up everything for the sake of size.

It is also noted by industry observers that the Italian market can be a very challenging place for new entrants. However, size is not the only factor in these considerations. Reputation, languages, and so on are also involved. There is a great advantage if the acquiring company is able to expand elsewhere faster and easier through an acquisition as opposed to a start-from scratch approach.

One interesting element of the strategy is the power of governance. Allowing the acquired companies to maintain independence emphasizes to the founders that having continuity is important. This can lessen integration pain, and they may be an even more appealing buyer for similar companies who are considering succession or partial exits.

Completing three deals in the first two months of the year also sends a message regarding the year 2026. From a company perspective, it reinforces a focus on execution. From a market perspective, it speaks to how one views the European hosting infrastructure space. Being a participant versus a consolidator.

While the long term impact will depend on how the group supports these independent operators, the Shellrent acquisition adds to a growing pattern. Your.Online appears focused on building a distributed network of locally strong providers, prioritising stability and continuity over rapid restructuring as it expands across Europe.
