Upmind addresses SaaS architecture concerns, unveils user-centric enhancements

At the bustling CloudFest USA event, Upmind’s CEO Seb de Lemos cleared the air regarding the company’s decision to offer their solution as a SaaS product rather than a self-hosted one. Seb answered the questions on why this architectural choice was crucial for the company’s vision, and how it benefits users by enabling the development of more sophisticated features.

“We’ve made a deliberate choice to build Upmind as a SaaS platform because it allows us to innovate and deliver a better product,” Seb explained. “One of the top concerns we hear is about data access. To address this, we provide daily exports to S3 and the option for users to download their data anytime. This ensures users have complete control over their information despite the SaaS nature of our service.”

The company’s commitment to user flexibility doesn’t stop at data access. Seb revealed upcoming features designed to cater to user needs, including a headless UI allowing users to run their interfaces using Upmind components. Additionally, the company is nearing the release of a new provisioning setup enabling users to run their provisioning on their own servers.

Migration from existing solutions is another area where Upmind shines. The Co-Founder highlighted their user-friendly import tool that supports WHMCS and CSV imports, as well as an API endpoint for importing client contracts. Some businesses have already successfully adopted a progressive import approach, gradually syncing and transitioning their data to Upmind.

Discussing pricing, Seb reassured attendees that Upmind’s model is designed to be accessible. “Most users will never pay us, thanks to our freemium tier. For businesses generating over a million dollars in revenue, the cost is around $75 a month, which scales minimally with revenue,” he noted.

As Upmind prepares for a full launch later this year, the company is focused on the web hosting market, stemming from Seb’s own background in the industry. “We’ve built a robust solution specifically for web hosting, and our adoption rates have been encouraging, with around 6,000 users already on board,” Seb said.

Concluding the session, Seb encouraged web hosting companies to engage with Upmind. “We believe in our product’s quality and are open to user feedback. Our roadmap is public, and we’re eager to connect and build something truly valuable together.”
