CloudFest Americas 2026

Unisys wins top marks for AI that fixes cloud problems first

Unisys just earned a Leader ranking in NelsonHall‘s 2026 evaluation of AI-enabled cloud infrastructure management vendors, and the detail worth paying attention to isn’t the ranking itself. It’s what NelsonHall singled out to explain it: self-healing infrastructure that fixes problems before a human operator ever sees an alert.

That distinction matters more than it sounds. Most cloud management platforms still lean on automation that reacts, something breaks, a system flags it, someone responds. Unisys built its Intelligence Accelerator platform around a different premise, using predictive analytics and autonomous agents to catch and resolve issues across hybrid infrastructure, applications, data and security layers before they turn into outages customers actually feel.

NelsonHall’s NEAT report, which strategic sourcing managers use to compare vendors across specific business situations, credited Unisys with agentic AI innovation as one of the traits separating it from other cloud management providers.

John Lahery, IT services research director at NelsonHall, pointed to Unisys’s Cloud Business Office as another piece of that story, describing it as an AI-centric consulting arm layered on top of the company’s broader intelligent operations push. He also noted Unisys takes a modular, plug-and-play approach designed to work alongside tools clients already have, rather than forcing a rip-and-replace of existing systems, something that matters a lot to enterprises wary of ripping out infrastructure they’ve spent years building.

The scale behind this is real, if not flashy on its own. Unisys runs cloud infrastructure management for nearly 150 clients worldwide, supported by roughly 2,200 professionals dedicated to that work. NelsonHall also cited the company’s Multi-Agent Orchestration capabilities and broader intellectual property portfolio as differentiators, tools built specifically to let AI agents coordinate across a client’s cloud environment rather than operating as isolated bots handling narrow tasks.

None of this means Unisys has solved cloud management outright, and rankings like NEAT reflect analyst assessment, not a guarantee of results for every deployment. What the recognition does confirm is a broader shift already underway across enterprise IT: cloud management is increasingly judged by how much AI can prevent before it becomes a support ticket, not how quickly a human team can respond once something’s already gone wrong.
