Reno data center gets license after nearly two decades without one

A Lumen-owned data center in Reno has regained legal operating status after city officials discovered it lacked a business license since 2006. The oversight, traced back to acquisitions and reorganizations, surfaced during a citywide review of data centers. Last week, the planning commission unanimously approved a conditional use permit, allowing the 2MW facility to continue running. Lumen confirmed it has no plans to expand or add generators at the site.
