Oracle says a pilot cut diagnosis time over 80% as it pushes multicloud AI

Oracle says companies in Asia-Pacific want to run AI on their enterprise data without first copying it from one cloud to another. Multicloud contracts and data sovereignty rules, the company says, now shape where those workloads go. Chris Chelliah, senior vice president of technology and customer strategy for Oracle Japan and Asia Pacific, made the case to Asian Business Review at Oracle AI World.

His argument is simple. A company that keeps its data in one cloud but wants a particular set of tools faces a barrier, and removing it lets the business move faster. Oracle’s answer is Oracle AI Database@AWS, Oracle AI Database@Azure and Oracle AI Database@Google Cloud. Each one runs Oracle’s database services beside a customer’s applications and AI tools inside the cloud it already uses.

Chelliah says this gives businesses more say over where data and AI workloads live, instead of forcing everything onto one platform. He also describes the opportunity as turning trusted enterprise data into operational outcomes.

Two customers appear in the report. In Singapore, for example, SMRT uses Oracle technology inside JARVIS, a platform from STRIDES Technologies that combines maintenance and condition monitoring data to support rail operations. In Australia, the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute uses Oracle AI Database 26ai and OCI Data Science for HeartSight, an AI application that aims to speed up assessment of aortic stenosis. Early pilot results show the tool has cut diagnosis time by more than 80%.

Chelliah says similar approaches can help companies get more value from data spread across on premises systems and several clouds while keeping access and governance controls in place. For firms still moving from AI experiments to wider rollout, he says fewer infrastructure and data location limits can shorten the path to adoption.

Still, the claims come from Oracle, and the report leaves several questions open. The 80% figure comes from early pilots, so treat it as a starting point. The report says nothing about how JARVIS has changed SMRT’s rail work, what the Database@ services cost or where each one is available. Therefore, buyers will need to check those points themselves.
