Oracle makes Database@Google Cloud available in India as multicloud use grows

Oracle‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ has begun providing their database at Google Cloud to clients based in India, thus enabling locally based enterprises to have access to the service if they want to operate Oracle databases in the Google Cloud environment. The offering is out for a spin in the Mumbai area and is aimed at companies that require strict regulation of where the data is stored and, at the same time, want to keep their applications up to date.

The rollout allows Indian customers to access Oracle Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure, Oracle Autonomous AI Database, and Oracle Autonomous AI Lakehouse through Oracle Cloud Infrastructure deployed within Google Cloud data centers. For many regulated industries, this setup removes a long standing barrier to cloud adoption by keeping data within national borders while reducing latency between applications and databases.

The‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Indian companies are opting multicloud strategy to a great extent instead of single provider commitment. As a result, many organizations continue to run core business operations on Oracle databases while shifting analytics and AI workloads to cloud platforms.

The service also becomes available through the Google Cloud Marketplace, which simplifies procurement for customers that already manage cloud spending commitments. Consulting firms and systems integrators may bundle the offering into comprehensive modernization initiatives, thus facilitating billing and vendor coordination.

Industry analysts point out that this tactic is indicative of a more profound change in the enterprises’ perception of cloud migration. Enterprises are now choosing to make gradual moves to the cloud to keep their existing investments instead of doing a large-scale platform switch. Organizations increasingly use multicloud deployments to maintain operational continuity, meet compliance requirements, and deliver predictable performance rather than to chase major cost savings.

India’s cloud market is still growing and spreading to different sectors such as financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, and public ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌services. These industries face strict data handling rules and low tolerance for downtime. Local availability of database services has therefore become a practical requirement rather than a competitive bonus.

By extending Oracle Database at Google Cloud to India, Oracle and Google Cloud are addressing that expectation. The move adds another region to a growing list where enterprises can combine Oracle database systems with Google Cloud analytics and AI services under a single operational framework. As multicloud adoption matures, similar regional deployments are likely to become standard across major markets.
