Hostinger promotes 14-year insider as CEO to lead its AI-first growth strategy

Hostinger has a new chief executive. Giedrius Zakaitis, the company’s former chief product and technology officer, stepped into the top role on June 16, with outgoing CEO Daugirdas Jankus moving into a position focused on new strategic initiatives. Both confirmed the change on LinkedIn, and neither framed it as a break from the company’s current direction.

Zakaitis is not an outside hire. He joined Hostinger roughly 14 years ago, started in customer support, and worked his way through the organization before overseeing product and technology. He also served as CEO of Zyro, Hostinger’s website-builder subsidiary, so he arrives at the group’s top job with chief-executive experience already behind him. The promotion signals that Hostinger wants continuity rather than disruption at a moment when its AI-heavy product strategy is generating real results.

Those results give the transition some tailwind. Hostinger reported EUR 275.4 million in revenue for 2025, up 51% year over year, its fourth consecutive year of growth above that mark. The customer base reached 4.6 million users across more than 150 countries, a 35% annual increase. Measured from 2022, when revenue was EUR 69.6 million and the company served 1.5 million customers, that trajectory is hard to argue with.

Much of that growth is tied directly to product decisions Zakaitis oversaw. The company’s AI support agent, Kodee, handled 81% of customer interactions by the end of 2025, up from around 50% at the start of the year. Kodee does more than answer questions; it connects domains, updates DNS settings, and installs plugins directly inside customer accounts across more than 50 languages.

Hostinger estimates that automation saved roughly EUR 9 million annually. Hostinger Horizons, an AI platform for building web applications from natural-language prompts, reached more than 800,000 customers in its first year.

Jankus came from a marketing background when he took the top job in 2023. Zakaitis comes from product and technology. The shift in profile at the CEO level reflects where Hostinger now competes, less on price and promotional rates, more on automated product experience that competitors find difficult to replicate quickly.

Jankus is staying on rather than departing, a detail worth watching as the handover settles in.
