Enrol Web Services Limited, the Nigerian technology company behind EnrolWeb, has won accreditation from the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. ICANN’s current directory lists it as an accredited registrar under IANA number 4566, with Nigeria as its country of operation. The move gives the company a firmer footing in the global domain name industry.
ICANN coordinates key parts of the internet’s naming system, including the Domain Name System that lets people reach websites through memorable names. Organizations that want direct access to generic top-level domain registries and plan to sell gTLD registrations must earn accreditation first, and they have to meet defined technical, operational and financial requirements. In plain terms, EnrolWeb has moved from helping customers claim their place online to holding a recognized role in the system that makes it possible.
The company’s path started several years ago. In 2021, Vanguard reported the launch of Enrol.NG, a Nigerian hosting platform built on Microsoft Azure that served individuals, businesses, government bodies and schools. Since then it has grown into EnrolWeb, which now covers domains, hosting, websites, security and productivity tools. It also holds accreditation from the Nigeria Internet Registration Association, so it now has standing in both the local and global domain worlds.
Today the platform sells domain registration and transfers, shared, WordPress and VPS hosting, website design, SSL certificates and business email. EnrolWeb says it has registered more than 12,000 domains, and it offers DNS management, domain privacy options and round-the-clock support.
Accreditation also brings duties. ICANN’s registrar framework sets obligations around the relationship between registrars and registrants, and the system aims to promote accountability and protect domain owners. For agencies, developers and resellers who depend on trusted domain infrastructure, the status could offer a stronger base to build on.
Seeing a Nigerian company on a global registrar list also carries symbolic weight, since trust and technical standards matter a great deal in this field. Looking ahead, EnrolWeb can deepen its domain business and compete for a bigger share of a market that increasingly links African businesses with customers worldwide.
