As enforcement of DORA and NIS2 gains momentum across the European Union, backup strategy is moving into the center of compliance discussions. MSP360 has announced support for AWS European Sovereign Cloud as a storage destination within MSP360 Backup PRO, giving managed service providers and regulated organizations a new option aligned with EU sovereignty expectations.
The new destination appears inside the platform as Amazon S3 EU. It allows customers to store backup data in an environment structured around European operational control and data residency requirements. Importantly, organizations can adopt this storage target without rebuilding their existing backup architecture.
Across Europe, procurement teams now examine more than data location. They want clarity on governance models, operational oversight, and infrastructure accountability. This shift affects public sector agencies, financial institutions, healthcare providers, and operators of critical infrastructure. Consequently, cloud backup strategies are now linked to managing regulatory risks.
Oleg Sapon, Vice President of Product Management at MSP360, noted that customers are asking deeper questions about how cloud environments operate under regulatory pressure. He said sovereignty has become an architectural consideration rather than a simple compliance checkbox. By integrating AWS European Sovereign Cloud support, MSP360 enables providers to adjust storage positioning while keeping established backup plans, encryption policies, and restore workflows intact.
The update does not automatically ensure regulatory compliance. Organizations still control configuration, encryption standards, access permissions, retention rules, and governance processes. However, it expands infrastructure flexibility at a time when supervisory reviews extend beyond cybersecurity controls into operational resilience and data handling practices.
European regulators are signaling that sovereignty frameworks will influence long term cloud adoption strategies. Therefore, backup infrastructure must align with broader governance models, especially for entities responding to DORA, NIS2, and evolving national guidance.
Support for AWS European Sovereign Cloud is available in MSP360 Backup PRO as a standalone option. For managed service providers serving compliance sensitive sectors, the ability to adapt storage destinations without redesigning workflows may help reduce friction during procurement reviews while preserving operational continuity.
