Micware taps Wiz for cloud security in automotive AI

Micware, the Japanese software company behind a lot of the technology running in-vehicle infotainment systems, just launched a new security offering through its subsidiary Micware Navigations, and this time it’s not about cars themselves. It’s about the cloud infrastructure and AI systems increasingly sitting behind them.

The company is partnering with Wiz, the cloud and AI security platform, to bring cloud security tools to customers navigating what’s become a genuinely complicated landscape. As AI-generated code ships faster and companies deploy more AI models, agents, and MCP servers into production, the attack surface keeps growing right along with it.

Micware argues that’s true across industries, but it’s especially relevant in automotive, where software-defined vehicles are pushing security requirements into territory the industry hasn’t fully dealt with before.

That’s really the interesting part of this announcement. Micware isn’t a security company by background. It built its reputation on in-vehicle infotainment software, which comes with its own strict, automotive-grade security standards. Now it’s applying that experience to a different problem: helping any company, car-related or not, manage cloud and AI risk using Wiz’s platform.

The service covers three areas end to end. First, an assessment phase scans a customer’s existing cloud and AI environment to surface shadow AI, vulnerabilities, and misconfigurations that might otherwise go unnoticed. Then comes design and deployment, where Micware Navigations sets up Wiz’s agentless connection and builds out security policies suited to the customer’s actual business.

Finally, ongoing operations use Wiz’s security graph to prioritize which risks genuinely need attention instead of drowning teams in alerts, alongside periodic reviews and training for the customer’s own security staff.

For automotive customers specifically, Micware is pointing to a fairly concrete use case: protecting the cloud APIs that connect directly to vehicles, tightening access controls, and building toward frameworks like a Cybersecurity Management System for software-defined vehicle platforms.

Micware says it plans to expand the service further, though it hasn’t detailed what that might look like or which markets come next.
