Microsoft tests cloud-based ‘backup PCs’ for when workstations fail

Microsoft is piloting Windows 365 Reserve, a service that shifts employees to temporary cloud PCs when their primary machines fail. Businesses can run these Azure-hosted desktops for up to 10 days and manage them through Intune. The service still requires users to have a secondary device, and major outages could strain capacity. The gated beta gives selected companies up to 12 weeks of no-cost access.
