GoDaddy unveils Node.js hosting built for AI coding tools and their apps

GoDaddy has introduced Node.js Hosting, a service aimed at closing the gap between building an app with AI coding tools and actually getting it live on the web. Developers can upload applications as ZIP files or connect a GitHub repository directly, then test everything in a private preview environment before attaching a domain and publishing.

Once an application goes live, GoDaddy handles the technical groundwork automatically. HTTPS, a content delivery network and a web application firewall all switch on without extra setup, so developers can skip the usual configuration steps that come after deployment.

The service also introduces API-based management, which matters most for developers and AI coding agents that would rather work through code than a dashboard. Through the API, users can create applications, upload source code, publish updates, manage environment secrets and pull build or application logs. Personal Access Tokens handle authentication, so automated tools can interact with hosting environments without a person signing in each time.

Bhala Dalvi, chief technology officer of products and AI at GoDaddy, said getting an app working should not require learning how to host it separately. According to Dalvi, the company built the new service so deployment fits into the same workflow developers already use, freeing them to focus on improving the app rather than managing infrastructure.

Applications run as persistent Node.js processes, which supports use cases like background jobs, open connections and apps that need to hold information in memory. GoDaddy also takes care of framework detection and dependency installation whenever someone uploads files or links a repository, so the setup work happens automatically in the background.

Published apps come with a managed MySQL database, plus separate preview and production environments for testing changes safely before they go public. Node.js Hosting is bundled into GoDaddy’s Web Hosting plans, and the company says it does not charge separately for requests, data transfer or build minutes.

For anyone who wants to try it first, GoDaddy offers up to two private preview applications for free, with no Web Hosting plan or credit card required. Publishing an app publicly, however, still requires an active Web Hosting plan.
