EPAM, Wiz team up to fix cloud security gaps

Most cloud security tools are good at one thing: telling companies what’s wrong. Fixing it, however, is a different problem entirely, and that gap is exactly what EPAM Systems and Wiz are now trying to close together.

EPAM announced this week that it has joined the Wiz Partner Alliance, pairing Wiz’s AI-powered risk detection with EPAM’s engineering teams to actually act on what that detection finds. Wiz, now part of Google Cloud, built its reputation on mapping out cloud risk through something it calls the Wiz Security Graph, which tracks assets, configurations, and attack paths across code, cloud infrastructure, AI applications, and SaaS tools. What it doesn’t do on its own, though, is fix the problems it surfaces.

That’s the piece EPAM is adding. “Cloud security does not end with identifying risk, as organizations need the engineering capability to act on that intelligence across complex applications and infrastructure,” said Alexandros Katsioulis, who leads EPAM’s Alphabet and Google Global Business Group. In practice, EPAM takes Wiz’s findings and folds them into its own cloud modernization work across Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft Azure, and other environments, rather than leaving clients with a list of vulnerabilities and no clear next step.

The partnership isn’t starting from scratch, either. EPAM has already been running Wiz implementation projects across industries including media, healthcare, financial services, and automotive, and this formalizes that work under a broader alliance.

into the mix. Its team actively attempts to exploit the flaws Wiz identifies, which helps separate theoretical risk from something that genuinely needs immediate attention. Eugene Dzihanau, who leads EPAM’s cybersecurity practice, argued that teams should stop measuring security by how many vulnerabilities they find and start measuring it by how much they reduce exploitable risk.

Beyond that, Wiz is also rolling out AI agents built to speed up different stages of the process, including one that tests exploitable paths from an attacker’s perspective, one focused on fixing root causes, and one that investigates threats in real time. For companies drowning in security alerts with limited engineering bandwidth to address them, this partnership is ultimately a bet that pairing detection with dedicated remediation work matters more than detection alone.
