Dubai Taxi moves core systems to du’s sovereign cloud platform

Dubai’s largest taxi operator just pulled off something no other transport company in the UAE has done yet: fully moving its core systems onto a sovereign national cloud. The project traces back to an agreement the two companies signed less than a year ago at GITEX Global 2025.

du Tech confirmed it completed the deployment of its National Hypercloud platform for Dubai Taxi Company this week. DTC’s core systems now run on du’s Oracle Alloy-based sovereign cloud, which gives the company high-speed compute, autonomous databases, and AI-ready infrastructure, all hosted inside the UAE rather than scattered across servers in a global hyperscaler’s network somewhere else in the world.

That last part matters more than it might sound. Hosting everything domestically puts DTC in full compliance with the UAE’s Cloud First mandate and guarantees complete data sovereignty, something global cloud providers genuinely struggle to promise given how their infrastructure typically spans multiple countries and legal systems.

Both companies marked the go-live at an event du hosted at its Dubai headquarters. du CEO Fahad Al Hassawi and DTC Group CEO Mansoor Rahma AlFalasi were among the leaders who showed up. Al Hassawi called the deployment a blueprint other government-linked companies could realistically follow, arguing it proves organizations can modernize aging, mission-critical systems without sacrificing data sovereignty, rather than treating the two as competing goals.

For DTC, the payoff is fairly concrete. Systems run more reliably now, operating costs have dropped, and the company has shed a lot of legacy technical debt. DTC also gains an infrastructure foundation that can support whatever digital mobility services come next. AlFalasi framed the shift as reinforcing DTC’s push toward modern technology that strengthens both internal operations and the actual rider experience, while making its digital backbone more secure and scalable at the same time.

du Tech is not done here either. The company plans to keep offering technical support as DTC’s systems continue evolving, part of a broader effort to modernize mission-critical applications for government entities and large enterprises across the UAE’s transport and logistics sectors. The project also feeds into Dubai’s Smart Dubai initiative and the UAE’s wider digital economy agenda, both of which increasingly treat sovereign infrastructure as something foundational rather than optional for public sector technology projects going forward.
