CoreWeave just picked its spot in India, and the calendar is the part worth reading twice. The neocloud said on October 6 that it will lease 240MW of data center capacity in Navi Mumbai from AdaniConneX, yet the first phase will not be available until mid-2028.
The space sits across three 80MW buildings at AdaniConneX’s Taloja campus. CoreWeave plans to fill them with Nvidia Vera Rubin systems, and it will be the sole tenant. It also holds an option to double its footprint there, which the announcement says would lift the potential total to 580MW. That figure does not match simple doubling of 240MW, so the exact terms of the option deserve a closer look.
The campus design explains why a lease like this takes time. AdaniConneX is building Taloja for high-density AI hardware, with direct liquid cooling and a non-evaporative chilled water system. AdaniConneX will bring capacity online in phases rather than all at once, so early customers should not expect the full 240MW on day one.
COO Sachin Jain said India has the talent, developers and ambition to become a major AI center, and he described the plan as more than a hardware drop. CoreWeave will open a local office and hire in India, which suggests it wants a team on the ground well before the servers arrive.
Context helps here. CoreWeave held 4.2GW of contracted power as of August 2026 and keeps widening its map across the US, Europe and Asia, with Indonesia announced just recently. India adds a market where demand for AI compute is growing but where building from scratch would be slow, so leasing from a local partner is the faster route.
For AdaniConneX, the deal lands a marquee tenant. The joint venture between Adani Enterprises and EdgeConneX launched in 2021 with a 1GW goal and now has projects in Chennai, Noida, Vizag, Hyderabad, Pune and Mumbai. Adani has also said it targets 5GW of data center capacity in India.
Two years is a long wait in a market that moves this fast. Hardware generations will turn over before the first phase opens, and CoreWeave will have to prove that Vera Rubin still counts as fresh when the doors finally do.
