CoreSite just made it a little easier for Silicon Valley companies to avoid one of cloud computing’s most persistent headaches: unpredictable connections between colocation environments and the cloud regions they actually depend on. The data center provider, owned by American Tower, announced a new Oracle Cloud Infrastructure FastConnect on-ramp at its Silicon Valley campus, giving customers a direct private link to Oracle’s San Jose region.
That brings CoreSite’s total to four commercial OCI regions accessible through direct connections in the U.S. For customers, the practical benefit is dedicated bandwidth and lower latency instead of routing cloud traffic over the public internet, where performance can swing depending on network conditions outside anyone’s control.
The FastConnect setup also lets customers build multiple connections into the same OCI region, which matters for companies running multicloud applications that need real resiliency rather than just a single connection they hope stays up. With four U.S. regions now reachable, CoreSite customers get more room to design around geographic redundancy and disaster recovery instead of concentrating everything in one place.
This isn’t CoreSite’s only path to Oracle, either. The company already offers dedicated fiber connections and access through its Open Cloud Exchange, a software-defined platform that lets customers set up private, on-demand links between cloud providers and hybrid environments without waiting on manual provisioning.
Maile Kaiser, CoreSite’s chief revenue officer, tied the expansion directly to how much modern applications now depend on reliable connectivity between enterprise infrastructure and cloud platforms, particularly as AI-driven workloads become more common. She said the goal is giving customers the flexibility to deploy where it makes sense for their business, while keeping multicloud strategies manageable rather than sprawling.
The Silicon Valley location isn’t incidental. Companies running real-time streaming, ad-tech platforms, AI inferencing, or cross-cloud architectures tend to cluster in that region precisely because proximity to major cloud infrastructure cuts down on latency in ways that matter for those specific workloads. Oracle’s broader FastConnect ecosystem includes more than 110 global and regional partners offering dedicated connectivity into OCI, and CoreSite now sits inside that network in one of the country’s most connectivity-dense markets.
