Most security teams assume their cloud logs are all flowing where they’re supposed to. The uncomfortable truth is that assumption is usually wrong somewhere, and finding out exactly where has traditionally meant days of manual auditing across scattered accounts and services.
Cloudaware is targeting that gap directly with a new partnership bringing its LogSight product to the Datadog Marketplace. The pitch is straightforward: help joint customers answer a question that sounds simple but rarely has a clean answer, is every cloud service actually sending its logs to Datadog?
The problem stems from how fragmented cloud logging naturally gets. Load balancer logs might route to S3 storage, VPC flow logs land in CloudWatch, and CloudTrail writes to its own separate bucket entirely. Even two identical load balancers can end up sending logs to completely different destinations depending on how someone configured them. As organizations spin up new infrastructure constantly, log forwarding doesn’t happen automatically, and gaps tend to go unnoticed until an audit, an incident, or a compliance review forces the issue.
LogSight tackles this in three steps. First, it auto-discovers every configuration item across AWS, Azure, and GCP using Cloudaware’s existing CMDB. Then it cross-references that inventory against Datadog‘s API to see which sources are actually sending data. Finally, it produces a gap report showing exactly which services, accounts, and regions are missing log coverage, along with specific remediation steps rather than a vague warning to “check your logs.”
Jordan Spiers, Cloudaware’s VP of Strategic Partnerships, put the core issue plainly: security and compliance teams generally aren’t short on log data, they’re short on visibility into where that data isn’t showing up. LogSight aims to turn what used to be a manual, one-time audit into something continuous and automated instead.
There’s also a clear incentive alignment behind this partnership. Every coverage gap LogSight surfaces represents a log source customers should be forwarding to Datadog but currently aren’t, which naturally nudges customers toward onboarding more sources once they act on the findings. Ty Connor, Datadog’s Senior Director of Channel and Alliances, framed the integration as supporting Datadog’s broader goal of eliminating the kind of silos that leave critical infrastructure only partially monitored.
Cloudaware LogSight is available now on the Datadog Marketplace, with a 30-day free trial and no credit card required to start.
