ARIS joins AWS European Sovereign Cloud to help enterprises scale AI without losing control

Process intelligence company ARIS has announced a collaboration with Amazon Web Services built around a specific tension that European enterprises are navigating right now. AI adoption is accelerating, but the regulatory and governance requirements surrounding sensitive operational data are not loosening to accommodate it. The partnership aims to give organizations a way to pursue both at the same time rather than treating them as competing priorities.

The AWS European Sovereign Cloud sits at the center of the arrangement. Operated entirely by EU residents under EU law, it provides data residency controls, operational resilience, and governance structures that keep enterprise data within European jurisdictional boundaries. For industries like financial services, healthcare, energy, and public sector, where regulatory frameworks explicitly shape where data can go and who can access it, that foundation removes one of the most common blockers to cloud-based AI adoption.

ARIS contributes the process intelligence layer, which is the part of enterprise AI deployment that tends to get underestimated. Running an AI model inside a governed cloud environment is one thing. Connecting that model to a clear understanding of the business processes it needs to support, the workflows it touches, and the operational boundaries it must respect is a different and harder challenge. Without that context layer, AI systems can produce outputs that are technically functional but operationally disconnected from how the business actually works.

Guillaume Bacuvier, CEO of ARIS, pointed to trust and control as the conditions that make AI scaling possible inside large organizations. “Organisations cannot scale AI without trust, visibility, and control,” he said, noting that digital sovereignty has shifted from a compliance checkbox into a strategic business requirement for many European enterprises.

Stéphane Israël, managing director of the AWS European Sovereign Cloud, framed the infrastructure goal around empowering organizations to innovate while maintaining complete control over their digital assets.

In practical terms, the collaboration targets organizations building AI-ready operational models, digital twins, and transformation initiatives that need to run within tightly governed environments. The combination of sovereign cloud infrastructure and process context gives those organizations a more complete foundation than either component provides independently.

For European enterprises that have been cautious about committing AI workloads to cloud environments, the partnership addresses both the infrastructure and the governance sides of that hesitation simultaneously.
