At VMware Explore 2024 in Barcelona, Broadcom introduced a suite of upgrades to its VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) platform. These enhancements focus on AI, cybersecurity, and digital sovereignty, thereby positioning VCF as a key solution in private cloud innovation. Broadcom’s goal is to meet the growing demands of enterprises for secure and scalable cloud options.
Krish Prasad, Senior VP of Broadcom’s VCF Division, highlighted VCF’s adaptability by combining on-premise security with the scalability of public clouds. With the recent VCF 5.2 update and the upcoming VCF 9 release, Broadcom aims to help companies deploy secure cloud environments across data centers, hyperscalers, and edge locations.
Additionally, Broadcom shared recent success stories showing VCF’s strength in security-focused projects. For instance, the Italian Mint and Printing Institute (IPZS) used VCF to build a Digital Application Platform, supporting the European Digital Identity Wallet initiative. Likewise, Schuberg Philis, a European IT provider, relies on VCF for efficient workload migrations, thus enabling flexibility across virtualized and containerized applications.
To further support AI workloads, Broadcom is expanding VCF’s data services with VMware Tanzu Data Services. This integration includes open-source tools like PostgreSQL and MySQL, which provide secure, streamlined data operations. For cybersecurity, Broadcom also added Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE) as a target for VMware Live Recovery, thereby boosting options for protecting workloads on both cloud and on-premises platforms.
In addition, VCF’s security suite now includes VMware’s GenAI-powered vDefend Advanced Service. This tool enhances threat detection and improves response times for IT teams.
Furthermore, Broadcom added support for Microsoft’s Azure AI Video Indexer, enabling generative AI-driven video analysis across data centers and edge locations.
Meanwhile, Broadcom launched the Private Cloud Modernization Program to help clients adopt private cloud environments. This program offers specialized training, including a new VMware Cloud Foundation Architect certification. It aims to equip IT professionals with skills in disaster recovery, scalability, and security.
Through these updates, Broadcom’s VMware Cloud Foundation supports businesses in meeting challenges related to cybersecurity, AI, and regulatory compliance. As global organizations continue adapting to the digital age, Broadcom’s commitment to a secure and flexible private cloud positions VCF as a valuable partner.
