Do hosting clients see .CO as a mature option?

.CO has been globally available for 16 years and now has more than 3.3 million registrations.

It also has reported sales like O.co at $350,000 and ETH.co at $300,000.

For hosting providers, do clients still accept .CO as a serious business domain?

Or do most still treat it as a second choice when .COM is unavailable?

I think the perception has changed quite a bit over the years. Sixteen years ago, a .CO domain often made people assume it was simply the alternative after .COM was taken. Today, it's much more established, especially among startups and technology companies.

That said, I still suspect .COM carries the strongest trust factor for the average business or consumer. If a company has the opportunity to secure a good .COM, I'd wager most would still choose it.

That is the real client question. Not "is .CO mature in the domain market?", but "will my customers understand it without asking why it isn't .COM?"

For some startup-style brands, yes. For many local businesses, that question still comes up.
