Big news in the WordPress world as Newfold Digital, the same guys that purchased EIG last year, has now purchased Yoast SEO.

If you're using Yoast, at least for now, nothing is supposed to change, but it shouldn't be too long before you start seeing ads about how you should be using BlueHost etc as your hosting provider! ;)

How long before RankMath is acquired, either by Newfold or someone else?

Wow, this is surprising, although maybe it shouldn't be.

We don't use Yoast or advise any of our clients to use it, mostly because it became too big and bloated and with upsell messages and bleh everywhere, when there are other much leaner and cleaner options that do the job just as well.

Maybe that was a sign of the direction they are now about to head deeper in, but I hope not.

From Joost's blog:

What will change now?
Not all that much for now, as we work on getting Yoast integrated into the wider Newfold family first. I look forward to collaborating with the other WordPress core teams (notably the Bluehost team) and see if together we can be even more successful in helping WordPress grow. And after that…. Well you’ll see soon enough!

So, not very long at all probably!

I assume customers should be informed at least that now they are with the company with new management.

On-page optimization, title tag optimization, and meta tag optimization are all things I do using the Yoast WordPress plugins. I also believe that consumers should be notified at the very least that they are now with a business under new management.

Well they pretty much did make the announcement to customers, by way of their newsletter and press release. The problem however is that most people disable the Yoast newsletters and announcements as they constantly use that as a way to boost sales for their pro version, or their academy etc etc.

They *MAY* put some sort of blub on the Welcome Page of Wordpress, the next time you update Yoast, but again, many people bypass that welcome page, and developers like me stop those announcements from pushing onto pages.

Time will tell what comes of it all.

That is truth unfortunately.
But if the old management really wanted to get clientele informed about the changes they would have found the way.
