cPanel pricing gone up again

i just see it from $45 to $48.50
Not anymore, new pricing.

Business 1,000 Up to 1,000 clients $44.95/mo.
Business 2,500 Up to 2,500 clients $99.95/mo.
Business 5,000 Up to 5,000 clients $174.95/mo.
Business 10,000 Up to 10,000 clients $299.95/mo.
Business 50,000 Up to 50,000 clients $849.95/mo.
Business 100,000 Up to 100,000 clients $999.95/mo.
Business Unlimited $1,299.95/mo.

Ah but seriously, if you have 100,000 accounts, you SHOULD be paying more than the $45!!! Just because you want unlimited, doesn't REALLY mean you need it.

Most hosting companies would be challenged to hit the 1,000 mark - and those that hit 2,500 should be able to afford the $100/month.

We were a certified cPanel NOC for a number of years, and while we had unlimited licenses back then, it isn't a feasible model as a business. I have no issue with them raising prices to reasonable costs, and I consider these costs as reasonable.

that is WHMCS Prices and NOT cPanel

So you think a $1250 a month price hike is normal and acceptable? Lol.

So you think a $1250 a month price hike is normal and acceptable? Lol.

you need to look at it as cost per account

i.e. you have 100,000 clients (each with 1 account) so it is $999.95 div by 100,000 =$0.0099 per account per month.
then 100,000 clients each paying you an average of $15 per mth so 100,000 x $15 = $1.5 million per mth
and you argue about paying $1000 a month for the client management system.

Unfortunately you're asking someone who operated 400+ servers and paid a monthly bill for the rent of those servers, software, backup fees, employees, taxes etc... So I come at this from a business side of things. Not only do I have to pay the providers that I get things from, but I also have to have a reasonable markup to cover other expenses, and make a profit on top of that.

I know very few hosting companies that have 100,000 accounts - for that matter, I know very few that have more than 10,000 REAL accounts. Again, Free, $1/year or $1/month hosting I do not consider to be real. Yes, they exist, but the "business" model can't be sustained.

Let me ask you a question on that... did you get a price hike of $1250/month? What were you paying, and what are you paying today?

True, but even if a host offers $1 mth plans and had 100,000 accounts it is still $100,000 a mth, so paying $1000 for client management software is still reasonable as I would hate to have to manually manage 100,000 accounts

Anyone who believes they are acceptable raising a bill $1250 more a month needs a doctor, regardless of value, regardless of how much per customer it is morally wrong and completely unacceptable.

About bills, yes we now have cPanel PER account, WHMCS per account meaning an additional cost of 20-30 cents a customer, with big numbers that adds up extremely fast to extremely large figures taking a huge cut from Businesses having to pay all those bills.

Still curious as to the ACTUAL direct impact it had on your business.

so you would rather see them still charge $45 a mth, so in a few month's time they have close down WHMCS.
How many of WHMCS users will have over 100,000 accounts?
I bet they would be able to count these on one hand.
They are just making sure users get a licence in relation to how many actual accounts they have. most of their users will only be on the first 3 tiers, they will have very few above Business 1000

but this thread is actually about cPanel price increase and NOT WHMCS price increase.

You clearly got involved in the WHMCS conversation, don't sweat I have requested my account be deleted won't be bothering you anymore old chap.

Leave everyone to post nothing but spam adverts instead.

Leaves me to wonder why only a handful actually post on this forum any meaningful content, if they are going to get bashed for doing so it probably explains it all.

I was actually curious. I wasn't poking the bear. I wasn't downplaying anything.

I am really curious as to how much the price increase at cPanel actually affected you and your business. This is something that EVERYONE can benefit from.

If you prefer not to answer, then stating just that is perfectly fine, and the case is closed, but you can't then continue to complain that others are seeing a price increase, as I really don't know anyone who has actually suffered due to the price increase.

If someone has overloaded their server with accounts, then I can see that being an issue, but again, I don't know anyone who has actually done that to the point that they received anything close to a $1200+/month invoice.

WHMCS is an excellent piece of software, a category leader for a reason. It was just a matter of time before they introduced a model that makes more sense. If that doesn't work for someone, it's not like WHMCS is holding you by the šŸŽ¾šŸŽ¾ ā€” there are plenty of other options.

Even if you host more than 10,000 accounts, a $1,000/mo fee for mission critical software should be a joke. It'd be morally wrong to pay $50/mo, if anything. And if you host more than 100,000 you should already be in a position to invest in and develop your own in-house software. Except why do that when a $1,000/month alternative sounds like a gift.

I am not sure why people are getting so upset about something that shouldn't be a big deal.
