Migration

Hello I have a potential client who has 100 accounts in reseller hosting package with a different provider and he told me to migrate his websites on to our server, no root permission.
Is there anyway or a tool to move all the websites at once rather than taking backups individually and migrating 100 times? thanks

If you don't have root, then the only option is to migrate all website backups individually from cPanel>>Backup Wizard>>Remote FTP Transfer.

I suggest whmeasybackup.com to do this easily. Or if the remote server has jetbackup plugin then you can create a remote backup job for all accounts at once, you must have jetbackup on your server too.

I know users can download Home Dir, MySQL and Emails backups separately and upload on new cPanel for restoration. But OP asked about the migration process for 100 clients. So, best option will be send the full cPanel backups to new cPanel, and ask the provider to restore backups.

Far easier to give new provider login details to old server and allow them to migrate the accounts over

It will depend on TOS of the provider. Some providers simply ask clients to send full backups, so they can restore from their WHM. Perhaps the provider asked the OP to do so.

Never come across any provider that wont do it themselves from old server. As a hosting provider i would prefer to do these myself rather than have clients provide backups as you will be surprised at how many have no clue how to do this and wont look it up, so you end up trying to explain to them step by step how to do this

Don't know why you didn't found such providers yet. But this kind of providers are plenty in market now who ask their clients to do so by providing a step by step guide.

a lot of clients wont google steps or look in a KB, they want you do do it for them or spend time giving them step to step instructions. Then you get irate clients who still cant manage so cancel within MBG period. I would rather ask for the server details, do it myself in half the time it would take them and have a satisfied new client. This is how i did it in my 18 years as a web host and will be the way i will do it in my new hosting clients. If a client wants to provide me with their own backups then i will do it via them.

Hi,
It would be better to use cPanel's Backup Wizard to create a full backup of the account. Then, you can just download it to the new cpanel server and restore it. full backup will include all your data (mailing lists included)

Hope this helps. :)

To do this easily, I recommend utilizing whmeasybackup.com. You may also create a remote backup job for all accounts if the remote server has the jetbackup plugin.
