Web Hosting VS Cloud Hosting

Web hosting comes mainly in 2 types: dedicated and shared. With dedicated hosting, a company pays all of the resources of one or more servers from a service provider. The client has full control over the servers resources, but also has a set amount of dedicated bandwidth, CPU, RAM, and drive space. Shared hosting is where the client pays for a small amount of space on a single server, and that server's resources are pretty much shared by others as well.

Cloud hosting offers more than web hosting can. With cloud hosting, you pay as you go for whatever space you use (usually) , instead of buying a specific amount of space beforehand. Cloud hosting also is much of a safer bet because the load is pretty much spread across servers. So if a server goes down, there is really no info lost or any downtime.

Cloud hosting allows unlimited number of machines to act as one system. Other hosting solutions (shared or dedicated) depend on one machine only, while cloud hosting security is guaranteed by many servers. The cloud technology allows easy integration of extra resources, such as space or RAM and thus enable website growth.

Cloud hosting is marketing term and there are still different interpretation of ,that is why I suggest you explore cloud infrastucture term..why?
Well mostly when look for cloud hosting you'll find that mostly it is refered to Virtual Server or sometimes Cloud Server but Cloud Hosting is very wide term and many providers offer regular shared hosting as cloud hosting because their host is on cloud infrastucture.I already say it is marketing term and that is why you'll find many different services offered under same name..but like I say mostly it is refered to VM...so when looking for cloud hosting you should also look for terms IaaS,SaaS,PaaS..because it will tell you much more.

It’s true that Cloud hosting allows unlimited number of machines to act as one system, but it's more costly than shared web hosting and dedicated hosting. In shared and dedicated server, you rely only one physical server with dedicated ram, hard disk and other server hardware. In cloud hosting its being spread on many servers, cloud hosting is more reliable and secure compared to shared and dedicated but one thing that it's always costly.

In our experience, Cloud hosting prevents long outages at the price of more complexity. This complexity can become a point of failure. For instance a bug in CEPH can bring down a whole infrastructure and take a lot of time and expertise to bring back up. With dedicated servers we regularly achieve 100% uptime over a few years and then have a 2 hour outage, with cloud hosting we tend to get more short outages and fewer long ones.

In our experience cloud is good when it needs to be small and flexible (launch a new server in seconds) where as high availability for larger configurations like a big shared hosting server can be better achieved with a less complex cluster with a failover mechanism.

Cloud Hosting in my eyes means that your website is not on one server. Your website is hosted on a system that has been built for fault tolerant/High availability. Often, with cloud hosting you get extra features like dedicated RAM and CPU.

Web hosting can be done on a stand alone server that means running all the service on just a single server where as cloud hosting needs multiple server for computing , scaling , storage etc...

Web hosting is located on one server, which can belong fully to you, or you may be just one of the users. Cloud hosting is located on several servers. The choice depends on the particular site and your personal preferences.

In normal web hosting you buy one server and host your app in it.

In cloud hosting you don’t buy servers , you buy computing services. Here you can spawn how much every servers you want. If you don’t want them you can shut it down. You won’t be billed if you don’t use their services. However in web hosting you get a bill every month irrespective of if you used it or not.

Cloud hosting are not limited to servers. They have got custom products. If you want to make a mobile app. AWS mobile services has tools to make your product development much faster than writing your own code.

Cloud hosting is a server with a hard drive just like any other server with the only difference being you only pay for the actual services you are using with the ability to upgrade and downgrade as and when you need too.

Web hosting is a service that involves storing site files on a server. Cloud hosting represents storage located in virtual space. If you are planning steady growth, without fast jerks and tariff plans, the web hosting provider is ideal for you. If you understand that you want to grow dynamically and gain flexibility, then it is definitely better to choose cloud hosting.

even in cloud hosting files have to be stored on a hard drive of some kind

The difference between shared and cloud hosting lies in how each is organized. Shared hosting servers are servers with multiple websites on them. ... Cloud hosting is a service that exists on multiple servers. Instead of on one shared server, your site is hosted in the cloud.

exactly the same as clustering in WHM/cPanel, cluster several servers together, so if 1 fails your websites remain online.

In traditional web hosting, you purchase a single server and place your app on it.

You don't buy servers in cloud hosting; you buy computing services. You can spawn as many servers as you like here. You can turn it off if you don't want them. If you do not use their facilities, you will not be charged. However, whether you use web hosting or not, you will receive a bill every month.

Cloud computing isn't just for servers. They have made-to-order products. If you want to develop a mobile application. AWS mobile services provide tools to help you build your product faster than you might be writing your own code.

Many people confuse web hosting, VPS hosting, and cloud hosting, but their technology has significant variations. Here's what they really have to offer:

Web Hosting

Web hosting is a form of traditional hosting that has limited resources and capabilities. Web hosting is also used to refer to shared hosting, which is based on a shared server resource model. They are less expensive, but perform poorly, so they are not recommended for large or enterprise-level applications.

Cloud Hosting

Cloud computing is distinct from these two types of hosting and is one of the world's fastest-growing infrastructures. It offers a framework that allows users to scale and operate their servers independently, without the need for a virtual machine. There are many cloud providers on the market, including Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud.

Hope these above answer will help to you.

The difference between web server hosting and cloud hosting depends on how each is organized. With web server hosting, the user is bound with physical constraints of that server where your respected website is hosted. On the other hand cloud hosting; it has a unique configuration, which helps in getting data from a network of multiple servers. It is similar to cloud tapping which has a basic network of actual physical servers to access stored data.

Web Hosting is actually a real server that includes all files of your website. The bunch of documents from your website is somewhere hosted on a unique server.

Cloud Hosting is a virtual server to include your website files. It is the service where your data is stored across multiple connected servers and can be accessed remotely from anywhere via the Internet.
