Zeus server

I'd like to know what are the advantages of Zeus server. I was told it's better to use it than Apache. I've browsed the Internet and can't say that many web hosting companies offer it. I have found only ***********.com that does it.
What do you think of Zeus?

I'm currently using it on one of my servers and I really don't see a difference in terms of performance internally or externally.

Do you use Zeus as well or Apache?

To the OP: there was a thread about Zeus performance on WHT, you may easily find it if you use the Search option.
Actually, ***********.com offers both Apache and Zeus web server.

I've tried Zeus and didn't really like it. Then again, I didn't notice much difference, but it wasn't worth the money I had to spend. I'd just stick to apache.

BTW, does anyone know of stats that compare the two? I'm sure someone had done some tests with both and gotten some data results.

Zeus Web Server is a high-performance web server for Unix and Unix-like platforms.
It is developed by Zeus Technology, a software company in Cambridge, England. Here is the table of comparison of web server software. It may help you to see the advantaes and drawbacks of servers.
Anywas, if ***********.com uses this kind of servers, it must be usable indeed.

So Zeus is used only for Unix-like platforms. I wonder if there is something similar to this server for Windows platforms.
If ***********.com uses Zeus it must be quite a profitable thing that suits to their clients perfectly well.

Zeus is a rival of Apache, and handles many BIG websites. By big, I mean REALLY BIG - including Ebay, Blueyonder and Sony.
There's an article comparing Apache vs Zeus performance.
http://www.intranetjournal.com/articles/200210/pij_lesson2b.html
Hope it'll clear out the situation for you as it has done for me.
Zeus has a much better 'backend' interface, allowing you to use a browser-based control panel, rather than ugly configuration files. Providing you can get the installation started, both Apache and Zeus will set themselves up automatically. However, when it comes to managing your server, Zeus wins hands down.

I also like the verdict at the end
Verdict: Apache is the product of hundreds of dedicated volunteers, and is proof of the power of free open-source software. When it comes to running your Intranet, it will remain stable and is unlikely to let you down. For a great deal more money, Zeus offers a small range of improvements over Apache for your Intranet. It's main advantage of load bearing is unlikely to be necessary on most Intranets, and is more designed for highly popular websites. That said, Zeus's interface is intuitive and makes administrating your Intranet a breeze.

In conclusion, for all but the largest Intranets, Apache is the ideal solution as it's free and reliable. For that extra power, as well as the availability of telephone support, Zeus is certainly a viable alternative - if the budget is available
.

My own conclusion, you can only ask people at forums to compare Apache vs Zeus performance if they have used Zeus for really very big web sites like ones mentioned above. Or talk to the hosting companies running lots of servers like hostgator.com, lunatpages.com, ***********.com.

I suppose if you have smaller websites and you were to use BOTH types of server, you wouldn't notice a difference. Now a website like ebay as you mentioned, I guess you would.

It makes me wonder if ebay ever went with a napache server, and decided to move to a Zeus. I've personally never worked on a Zeus server, eg. the maintainance etc. etc...
