Zeus Web Server is a high-performance web server for Unix and Unix-like platforms.Harry said:I've tried Zeus and didn't really like it. Then again, I didn't notice much difference, but it wasn't worth the money I had to spend. I'd just stick to apache.
BTW, does anyone know of stats that compare the two? I'm sure someone had done some tests with both and gotten some data results.
Zeus has a much better 'backend' interface, allowing you to use a browser-based control panel, rather than ugly configuration files. Providing you can get the installation started, both Apache and Zeus will set themselves up automatically. However, when it comes to managing your server, Zeus wins hands down.
.Verdict: Apache is the product of hundreds of dedicated volunteers, and is proof of the power of free open-source software. When it comes to running your Intranet, it will remain stable and is unlikely to let you down. For a great deal more money, Zeus offers a small range of improvements over Apache for your Intranet. It's main advantage of load bearing is unlikely to be necessary on most Intranets, and is more designed for highly popular websites. That said, Zeus's interface is intuitive and makes administrating your Intranet a breeze.
In conclusion, for all but the largest Intranets, Apache is the ideal solution as it's free and reliable. For that extra power, as well as the availability of telephone support, Zeus is certainly a viable alternative - if the budget is available
I think if ***********.com offers Zeus server, they provides maintance of it as well. If you are interested in this company, you should contact them directly and find out everything you want to know from them.Harry said:It makes me wonder if ebay ever went with a napache server, and decided to move to a Zeus. I've personally never worked on a Zeus server, eg. the maintainance etc. etc...
