Your Nightmare Story with a NOC/DC?

Well,

I am curious to know wich were the DataCenters were you had the worse experience with and the one that you wouldn't recommend to anyone.

This happened on a hosting company I had an account with..
It was in EV1.
The company kept getting DDOS attacks against the server I was on, EV1 simply unplugs any server receiving DDOS attacks meaning all customers on that server are down.
Everytime the server came up, about 10 minutes later, it was taken down.
This must have happened for at least 3 days until the host moved all clients to a new server.
I really don't like the way EV1 deals with DDOS, they don't try help the host, I have seen a lot of hosts complaining about the same thing.
I don't know if they are meant to, or even if they have changed now but I didn't think it was very helpful.
unplugging a server doesn't do anything to help, the attack will continue when it is up again anyway

someone hacked my box and put a rootkit in, it took down xo's network in cali :-/ my provider didn't unplug , but they did investigate and made sure they found the guy that put the rootkit in... rack911 saved me a os scrub..

I think the only thing that really had me stressed was when the server HR is on went down.
It is in ThePlanet.
First there was a problem with the network card, got that replaced.
Then the harddrive, got that replaced.
Then the server wouldn't come back up, had to be moved to a new server.
The new server kept going down every 10-15 minutes for 2-3 days
I was trying everything I could, techs at my provider and inside the actual DC were also working on it for the whole time and it still took a while to get it sorted.

I went to bed and work up *praying* that it would be back up hehe.
Really effected the forum, don't think it has even recovered since then...a lot of people that were daily regulars haven't been on since.

When you try visit a site and it is down for 3 days in a row you kind of forget about it, which is totally understandable.

It is over now though and I really hope nothing like that happens again.

No so much a NOC but a reseller for HE.net. Hardware died and then the just turned around and said weren't going to replace it

Never using them again

I think EV1 are currently experiencing problems with their cogent lines, sites up and down like yo-yos.
