Yahoo Web Hosting?

I have a friend who is wanting to purchase hosting with them because she is afraid to not go with a big name :( Does anyone have any experience with Yahoo? Or how can I persuade her to try someone smaller?

While I've never tried Yahoo, I don't know if I'd ever use them myself. I've never had a great expierience with their stuff (exept flickr which they simply bought), especially geocities. I couldn't even get the blasted editor to open.

I'd try godaddy, or 1&1. It kinda depends on what they need and how much they're willing to pay. I mean, they're not as well known as Yahoo, but then again Yahoo isn't too well known for their hosting either. Just tell your friends that these are huge hosting companys that will offer him a better expierience. I don't know your friend, so I wouldn't know exactly how to word it ;)

I've heard of godaddy Winnopeg, but what is 1&1? Or better, what is their web site? I think she justed like Yahoo because they were a bigger name and she didn't think they would rip her off. Thanks for the advice!

Um, I think the 8 page advertisements are why I don't read computer magazines anymore :-) Nah, I used to read them when I working in the industry, but since I have become a work at home mom, I don't read them much anymore. But thanks for the link!

No problem, and yeah, I can see why you'd stop reading them because of it ;) I like Macworld and MaximumPC for those reasons - less huge ads.

Anywho, back to Yahoo web hosting ;)

I used to get MacWorld :-( I was a huge Mac person, but about 2001, I stopped working for places that had Macintoshs and don't have one at home, so I have, ugh, become a pc person now :p

I've used a mac to create some graphics on photoshop, It's pretty amazing. But I feel more at home on a windows box.

One of my freinds setup a hosting account with Yahoo and it was a sham. Content Management system in her didnt work ( locally it worked great ) then after upload it didnt work at all.
