Xbox 360

Was anybody lucky enough to get an XBOX 360 yet? If so, which one did you get? I understand there are 2 versions. One with and one without a harddrive. I think we have them coming out next week in the UK and a few people I know have them pre ordered. I wonder how much of the demand Microsoft will meet.

I'll get one as soon as they make chips / mods for them. They're not that good without the mods.

I might be waiting for the Playstation 3. Not sure yet. I got a PSP a few months back and need to be steady with the cash spending. LOL.

Last console I got was an xbox, just got it to play a football game....
Waste of money, bought a superbike game last month and the thing wouldn't even turn on.

Is it the PSP that can play movies?

Yes, the PSP plays movies. It has a nice screen also which has a wide screen aspect ratio (if thats what it's called). I havent watched any on it yet though although I saw one briefly on someone elses and it did look good.

Just wait for PS 3 . The release version of XBOX 360 new video game console has a design flaw that causes it to overheat and freeze up.

I read about that. Something to do with the PSU being too close to the bottom of the machine and not letting enough air through. I do not fancy taking one appart and lifting the PSU out though.

I bet it was related to MS wanting to push the xbox out before the PS3 and probably not being tested enough because of this.

After what I said I went and bought one.

I've had it for a few weeks and it absolutely rocks. Xbox Live is the dog's b*****ks!

The PSU is external

It's massive and it get's really hot. I'm not a fan of Sony at all. I think the company is really underhanded (*cough* rootkits *cough*) and I'm hoping another console will win the console war with them.

Nice!! Both of them look very good from what I have seen. One I would buy if I had one was Project Gotham 3. That looks amazing!!!

I'll get it eventually. I got it sent out as part of the package I bought from Game (they bundled the consoles up to make more money 'cause they knew people would pay £400+ for them) but I took two games back in for a refund. (I couldn't justify £400 just yet!)

On a seperate note - if anyone else tried this and Game argues that they don't have to take the games back they're lying. The refund policy states you have 10 days and as long as the games are unopened and unplayed you're OK. The receipt itemises all the games and the console seperately so they're lying when they say they can only refund the whole package.

Took me an hour to get my refund after shouting at the store manager.

Cool! When I worked at EB (who own Game) the refund policy was 10 days also and the games could be opened but had to be returned in mint condition. If we ever turned anyone down (which was at the managers discression) they would argue, call the 0800 number and complain to the head office and then 10 minutes later the customer would be back and head office had called us to tell us to do the refund. LOL. Either way the customer wins :D

I'm still waiting for some of my Xbox 1 games to be available on the 360. A little-advertised fact about the Xbox 360 is the fact that backwards compatability is emulator-based and they rushed the launch so much that the list of games you can play is still pretty small.

Strangely, I still love the console. Am I a sucker for commercialism or what?

Does that mean they bring a new emulator out which is capable of playing more games each time and you just re install the emulator?

Well, it installs the new emulator automatically (if an update is available) if you're connected to XBOX Live. Otherwise you have to download it, burn it to CD then update your Xbox like that. (Or you can order a CD for a small shipping fee direct from MS)

Hopefully in a few months issues like this will be long forgotten.

You'll have to come over sometime and I'll show you how it all works! It's great when it does work!
