Would you use a host that had a setup charge?

If a hosting company had a setup charge for an account would it put you using the company?
Would you rather find a company that just had a monthly fee with free setup?

It wouldnt bother me if a company had a setup charge even though most do free setup these days.
As long as it wasnt too much, I have seen some hosts asking for quote a big setup fee just for a normal hosting account.

BTW I dont mean servers here...just normal accounts
 
I won't use such a company..
Almost everyone has free setup..And the others wants to earn extra money. I don't mind about that, but if I can safe my own money :P
 
Setup fees i believe are only needed when you actually have to physical do something. Like setting up a dedicated server installing the os/ control panel/ apache etc. I would be willing to pay a setup for that.

When It comes to hosting now though... all the effort a setup requires now is 5-10 clicks a few user information....a "Create Account" button. Then of course the welcome email. (2-3 minutes of time). Why would i want to pay anyone money for that?
 
like vovex said, knowing what it actually takes to setup an account using a control panel, no I would not pay a setup fee. Although in the case of a windows account that doesnt have a control panel, I would be willing to pay a small setup fee for the account since it does take some effort to setup an account (you have to do all the dns, ftp, www, users, etc manually)

I don't even like to pay setup fees for my dedicated servers since most of the time they are already plugged in and ready to go...
 
A setup fee for only a reseller or shared hosting account, there is no need for this. How much effort can it possibly take to fill in username/password/domain and click a few buttons? :)

Setup fees are appropiate when you have to say build a server and buy the parts for dedicated servers to help balance the cost.

They are also valid on reseller accounts as their bandwidth pricing is cheaper then the end user shared hosting account, you will also receive more detailed support requests which need more time and attention on each ticket.
 
The only way you MIGHT be able to get away with a setup fee is if it would lower the monthly cost, but that would be a hassle I dont think I would want to do that myself.
 
I think that this depends...some hosts charge setup fees just to make some extra money...but on the other hand I have seen some hosting companies charge setup fees maybe to use it as maintenance for their equipment and so on. If I know a hosting company charged setup fees and if they were good there is no doubt that I would go with them.

Yeah I agree with you 100%.. the setup usually offsets the cost of all the hardware and other things like this, in a reseller or shared hosting, there is no extras you need to pay for like this, nor does it even take alot of time, heck, some hosts do it automatic, so then it really requires no effort.
