Wireless Anyone?

Does anyone here currently use or have used wireless services while traveling?

I am looking into wireless services for my laptop while I am traveling so I don't always have to worry about whether the hotel allows or even offers internet access. I know most do but I would also like the ability to connect while on the word.

I would love to hear if any of you have any experience with wireless ISP's and what companies you used.
 
What country are you in?

I'd love to be able to access the internet on the move, but havent found any such services (with no mobile phone) to do this :(
 
Wireless internet, like Satalite or something?

I'm guessing this is what you mean, nope never used it.. wonder how the speeds and such are?
 
Yes that is what I was thinking I would end up having to do is go with a satellite service. Just don't know what kind of coverage is offered or if their has to be some kind of home basaed receiver?
 
Just get a sprint PCS phone with a good plan. Get the link cable, you can get around 100kbps off of it. Very nice service they give you all the data you can chew on :)
 
My boss has wireless internet hooked up into her car.... so she can use her laptop while on the road. We live in Lansing, MI and I think the service is called West Star or something like that. She only gets like 32k up/down and its around $70-80 a month. I'll find out exactly what it is called.
 
Oh I forgot to add on to that. You can always call your local police station and ask what service they use. They have wireless setups in all of the squad cars for the laptops mounted on their dash.
 
Wow Jon I never thought of that, speed won't matter to me as it would only be a form of accessing the servers and monitors not doing any surfing and then accessing email and occasional IM. I will do some more investigating as well and if I find anything I will let everyone know what I end up using.
