dear all!

I am a researcher at the UMIST School of Management, in the U.K.. I am researching British people's attitudes to Internet Shopping, and the reasons why they do not buy on-line. This is important research because we are not buying on-line and online retail spending is a fraction of total retail sales.

However, i do not have enough responses from UK nationals and i desperately need more. Please help me and click on to the WWW link below and complete my on-line questionnaire. For every completed questionnaire, i will donate 10p to the charity OXFAM. I will also post my research findings in this forum for everyone to read. IF anyone wishes to have more details of my research or wishes to request more in-depth research findings, then please e-mail me: chrisaldred53@hotmail.com

here's the WWW link to my questionnaire:

An old topic... oh well, I'll reply anyway.

Why did I not purchase things on line when I was in the United Kingdom?

Firstly because I didn't feel I needed to. I lived in the town centre, and was only a minute or two walk from the very centre and I lived in a nice small market town which was full of small shops [However that does not mean there were no supermarkets - Although one of the supermarkets (Waitrose) was also right in the centre].

Secondly was because it takes a fair amount of time if you order on line. It cane take from 24 hours to six or eight weeks depending on the items; and if it is something large and expensive which will take a long time, I want to see it in person before I buy to make sure I'll be happy once I receive it.

Thirdly was because I didn't feel like using my card 24/7 on the net.

Another reason was because when I found a good on line shop, it would soon afterwards close down. One example is Jungle; well first Argos bought them over and they were ruined. Then they just closed down because the majority felt the same way. Argos just seem to ruin everything.

Now I still don't purchase on line that much, however I'm in France. But now when I purchase on line it is only for books in English. There are so many great books which you just cannot get here in English.

All valid points Anjay... BTW, nice to see you on HD again. I'm a relatively new member (compared to you at least) but I do know that you were one of the most active HD members. :)
