Hey Guys,

Today I do some researches on Google to find an internet marketing forum to promote my ebooks and I used the same keyword to find one and pretty strange when this site "<name snipped>" http://www.************.com is getting top #1 on Google and I have a look on their site, they just have 8,924 posts while other forums are bigger and having millions of posts.

I have captured a screenshot from Google

see the attachment

Can you guys please show me an analytic on SEO aspects about this site, what techniques are they applying for their site to get better rankings so that I can apply for my blogs.

Thanks in advance.

simple its the same as Top 10 host sites. They pay to get top spot

In all fairness it isn't that simple. When it comes to Google, nobody can promise or guarantee that you will be #1 in search results.

iTommy, I think this is more a question of time and luck. Sometimes your resource will just list at the top of search engine results for some very specific keyword without any specific effort whatsoever, but a combination of factors.

It is that is why you have the google ad searches at the top as they pay to be their.

also if they are a google partner and spend thousands a month in adwords they get to top of search results

First I think for starters the owner has done a bit of SEO work. The home page alone returned 18 instances of his target keyword. He also has a couple of good link backs. If his site stats are anything to go with he potentially has 9,905 Members making his site a fairly popular and searched for website. This is backed up with Alexia score of 69,266 global popularity. All these get Google smiling his way thus top of the list.

Assuming you mean in the organic search then Google must have seen some value in their website. Maybe it's not the biggest but it may have much better quality content that isn't duplicated on many forums.

And actually one of the major misstates SEO masters make is to think that you need too many articles to be an authority. The quality matters ahead of quantity when it comes to SEO

I don't know where you're getting their numbers. This is what I'm seeing currently - Threads 8,820 Posts 61,321 Members 9,910

The first mistake in terms of SEO that he makes is to think that the number of posts necessarily makes them any smaller. Its quality rather than quantity that counts the most in SEO. I did inspect that website a bit and trust me there are several things they are doing right to earn their position.

I don't think their position came from paid ad because if some website paid for Google adwords then before their position used to have a "Ad" badge and Google are separate from paid ad and free ad (organic results)

I have to agree with you, some times, my blog get first page of google but sometimes it decrease rankings and jumped into page 2 or 3 on google search results.

I don't understand this, why some get luck, I think any factors could influence on this.

With SEO I dont believe in Luck. Many times its a case of either deliberate or accidental positioning that gets you on to first page BUT never luck. There is no luck in scientifically generated results but it could be accidentally true that you optimized for a certain Keyword without your knowledge

One trick to gaining rank is to have other websites mention you with the same keywords. So lets say you have a restaurant, if a popular site puts up an article about your restaurant this will up your rating. As many have already pointed out, having the keywords written well into articles and that help to.

Probably this website is more on topic and have more links, maybe a longer history. But it is also a truth that sometimes you just can't tell why Google favors one website to another.
Cheers,
Adam
