Who is ACTUALLY happy with their hosts??

Hi guys,

I am finding it extremely difficult to find a good reliable host that is not overselling or regarding their customers as numbers.

I have read through alot of threads from people looking for host recommendations and it appears that most people who are claiming to recommend a host are actually advertising their own company.

I have 3 questions:

1. Can I ask you who hosts your site?
2. How long have you been with them?
3. Why are pleased with them?

I want honest answers and not people pretending to be posters but are actually advertising. :smash:

pyramus, welcome to HostingDiscussion.com. I think I can provide you with an honest answer since I do not run a web hosting company.

1. Can I ask you who hosts your site?
www.micfo.com

2. How long have you been with them?
Since Day 1 of their opening. How did I learn about them so fast? I was hosting with a company started by same owners before, but once they sold their operations, I switched to Micfo.com to continue experiencing good support. In addition, I already was on familiar terms with some of the tech support folks, so its always nice when someone is being personal with you.

3. Why are pleased with them?
Why am I pleased with them? Good tech response and uptime, fast connectivity, personal service, easy access to management/administration of the company. They also acted every time I provided suggestions/feedback, so that is always nice. Micfo.com had its share of problems however, when they moved servers to a new improved datacenter. For about 2 months people have been reporting outages, etc. My server was down as well, but I stuck with the company (not going to leave people I've known for years), but they overcame the challenge and drastically improved their services, so I am back to being happy.

You can always give www.Micfo.com a try. If not, they offer anytime money back guarantee. As I said, every company has its downtimes. Over long-term, my experience with Micfo (and I host HostingDiscussion.com there), has been very positive.

I will also recommend a couple of other firms I heard plenty of good things about:
www.rochen.com and www.dotable.com You can easily find good reviews on them on the Internet. As your signature states: Fail to prepare..........Prepare to FAIL! - do your homework, and you won't be disappointed!

Good luck with your hunt!

I am also happy with my web host. Now I don't have any database driven sites or graphic intensive sites, so that may be why I have had not problems.

1. Can I ask you who hosts your site?
************

2. How long have you been with them?
For over 6 months now.

3. Why are pleased with them?
Very good uptime and reliability. And so far there customer service has been great. They have always been able to respond to my problem tickets within 1 hour and resolve the problem within a couple of hours.

1. Can I ask you who hosts your site?
Hostgator.

2. How long have you been with them?
2 years 5 months and about 2 weeks.

3. Why are pleased with them?
Basically the good server stability and performance. Also, over time I've come to realize that they're acting fast on any issues that arise, and that's quite important for any website owner. In a shared hosting environment things will happen from time to time, and I like to know that someone is there taking care of it when the odd thing happens.

We now host our own sites but we used to use Hostgator on a reseller account and were with them for about 2 years.

Service was great, very little downtime but we did have a few issues with their "Live Support" whose favourite answer was "Please submit a support ticket".

Saying that though, once a ticket was submitted they responded quickly and usually sorted out any issues first time round.

Hope this helps :)

Good point Thomas.
Every host, no matter how good they are will have issues from time to time.
What defines a good host, in my opinion, is how they deal with these issues.

Very good uptime and reliability. And the technical support are doing the great job. They have always been able to respond to my problem and fixed within 24 hour.

1. Can I ask you who hosts your site?
bluehost.com

2. How long have you been with them?
Almost one year

3. Why are pleased with them?
Only like 2 hours of downtime for the year I think... as far as I know, the features are rich, I really can't use that much space and bandwidth, and now they are adding live chat in addition to their phone and ticket support.

1. Can I ask you who hosts your site?
godaddy.com. Earlier, rackspace

2. How long have you been with them?
1 year plus.

3. Why are pleased with them?
Yes, rackspace was great, but too costly. Went with godaddy after realising that I dont need managed support. Server is good and fast, they answer support tickets in around 3 hrs. I had just 2-3 customer support tickets so far. Probably I dont need much support to manage the server. I am talking about dedicated server, know its a differnt issue for shared server.

2.How long have you been with them?

-Since April 2006

3-Why are pleased with them?

-They have very cheap and good plans. I have not experiened any downtimes with them so far nor slow speeds. After all other hosting companies ive been with, such as hostaway and superbservers, i think this is the best.

I was interested in this host. So I went into the live chat.

I made it as far as this with sales:
Angelo: Welcome to Micfo.com live chat service.
Angelo: Greetings, how can we help you today?

Then all my questions were ignored.
So I left to search for another host.

I was not impressed...

Do you have the full chat transcript?

Sorry I didn't save it.

It was pretty much just like I said though.

It's as if I just got an automated response and then put into limbo...
