I'm creating web site and I have noticed that in different browsers that looks different. Just would like to investigate which is the most popular browser
Thx

Plan for both

I think Firefox has the edge but maybe it's only among my circle of friends. However, you need to make your website look good in any browser. I'm not positive if CSS alone takes care of the issues but I know that there are ways to make your website cross-browser friendly.

Chatter, there are but it is very hard for anyone to make a site fully friendly for every browser out there. Most coders will shoot for IE first if its a business site as many in the corp. world will use IE in an office setting before anything else. Then they will try for all the others like FF for mostly personal use, Opera for some linux users and so on. Really depends the type of site too.

Firefox by no means has any edge.
It is becoming more popular but still only has about 20% of the market compared to around 73% for IE.

On my own sites I see IE has the largest share but not by too much. IE is ususally between 45% and 50% with FF being 37% - 42%. (All my sites are tech related).

I'd suggest working on your sites till you get them working in the two main browsers.

I have seen some sites use a seperate CSS file for IE... so it might be worth you looking down that route if it's CSS problems you are having with layouts etc..

Ive found Firefox to be faster more stable and far more secure than any other browser in my honest opinion.
The newest version of IE seems ok but not quite as secure as firefox.

Out of curiosity how is IE less secure than Firefox?

Internet Explorer is a Windows core feature while Firefox/Mozilla is a standalone application that's why it's more secure, when you upgrade Mozilla you don't risk to screw the whole system up. Furthemore Mozilla provides many useful free plugins, you can install/uninstall it anytime. But the more plugins your Mozilla installation has the slower it works.

Well it also depends on what you're looking for too.

If you're looking for speed and actually "good" widgets / accessories, go with Opera.

If you want a more professional-er browser, or more commonly known for that manner, go with Internet Explorer.

And as a speed jr. browser, go with Firefox - I also like the tabbed browsing (IE ripped FF's idea of this...)

Most people use IE because it comes default installed on Windows and lots of people really don't know that there are even different browsers.

Personally I prefer FF3 because I am just stuck with Firefox :D

Browsers that count for less than 0.5% are not listed.

W3Schools is a website for people with an interest for web technologies. These people are more interested in using alternative browsers than the average user. The average user tends to use Internet Explorer, since it comes preinstalled with Windows. Most do not seek out other browsers.

These facts indicate that the browser figures above are not 100% realistic. Other web sites have statistics showing that Internet Explorer is used by at least 80% of the users.

Anyway, our data, collected from W3Schools' log-files, over a five year period, clearly shows the long and medium-term trends.

I perfer IE. It is simple and easy to use. I tried using FF and Chrome, but I didn't like em at all. IE all the way :D

The most popular browser is Internet Explorer.
However, the best can easily be argued to be Mozilla Firefox. It has many great addons to make your internet browsing experience better and you can customize it and look many ways. You can make it look like IE, Opera or w.e.
